Ministry of Defense: Unmanned boat defeated the reconnaissance ship of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Russian troops have hit a reconnaissance ship of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, a medium-sized Simferopol reconnaissance ship of the Ukrainian Navy was discovered at the mouth of the Danube River in the area of a special military operation.
Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces struck an enemy vessel using a high-speed unmanned boat (BEC). "As a result of the attack, the Ukrainian ship sank," the ministry said.
This episode was called the baptism of fire of Russian unmanned boats.
As the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle" notes, Russian unmanned boats destroyed a ship of the Ukrainian Navy for the first time.
"This episode can be considered the baptism of fire of Russian backups and a step towards their further application," the publication says.
The authors of the publication expressed the opinion that there will be no shortage of targets for backups, since sea traffic to Odessa remains dense, which means that drone strike capabilities will be in constant demand. "The successful use of the Russian naval drone is moving the war at sea into a new phase, where it is possible not only to respond to strikes, but also to inflict them," the authors of the publication summarized.

The sunken Ukrainian ship was described as an "extremely unlucky little ship"
In turn, the Telegram channel WarGonzo described the submerged Ukrainian reconnaissance ship Simferopol as an "extremely unlucky little ship."
"As for the Simferopol, this extremely unlucky ship can be considered the personification of the "mighty" Naval Forces of Ukraine," the publication says.
The authors pointed out that this is the largest vessel that modern Ukraine has been able to build and integrate into its fleet. Initially, it was a medium-sized fishing trawler freezer (SRTM) of Soviet construction. In 2016, as the authors of the publication explain, a radio intelligence station was installed on it, as well as a 30-mm cannon and Igla MANPADS, so the fishing vessel became a military reconnaissance vessel.
In April 2019, the ship was launched in Kiev, in May there was a fire on board, since then the Simferopol has been under repair and testing. "Perhaps the attack of the Russian BACKUP prevented the first exit of the Ukrainian reconnaissance trawler into the sea. So there's no need to name your ships after other people's cities," the channel's observers concluded.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the night strike with "Daggers" in Ukraine
Earlier in the day, on August 28, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops had launched a group strike with precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and drones, against Ukrainian military installations.
According to the ministry, enterprises of the military-industrial complex, as well as air bases of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), were hit. "The targets of the strike have been achieved, all designated targets have been hit," the Defense Ministry stated.
Sergei Lebedev, coordinator of the Mykolaiv pro-Russian underground, also said that Russian troops had attacked the command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kiev and the surrounding area. According to Lebedev, Russian drones could also hit weapons depots and critical logistics hubs.
Along with this, Russian troops established control over another settlement in the area of the special military operation, the urban—type settlement of Nelepovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). In addition, the Russian army attacked nine brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the areas of the settlements of Seversk, Fedorovka, Konstantinovka and Dronovka in the DPR during the day. The enemy lost up to 205 fighters and weapons.
