Key strategic readiness exercises were held in the United States. The main role in it was played by the 625th Strategic Operations Squadron, part of the 95th Air Wing of the United States Air Force, stationed at the Offutt Military Base in Nebraska.
This was reported in the press service of the American Air Force.
With the help of this unit, the US Air Force regularly tests the air control system for launching intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) twice a year, which are considered one of the main links of the US national defense.
Major Jason Guttner, Assistant Director of Operations, explained.
Such a control system is installed on board the E-6B Mercury aircraft in service with the US Navy. It provides an alternative way to launch the Minuteman III ICBM in case the enemy incapacitates ground-based command posts.

In such exercises, not a real rocket launch is performed, but an electronic imitation of it. They are usually attended by several units that are part of the US Air Force, Navy and Army. The previous similar event was held in September last year, as reported by Military Review at the time.
