The American press, citing sources in the military department, writes that the development of the HALO hypersonic missile for the US Navy has been canceled. The information is confirmed by Rear Admiral Stephen Tedford, head of the Executive Office of the Strike Weapons and Unmanned Aircraft Program.
According to the American rear admiral, the Navy canceled the application because "the high-priority OASuW Inc 2 program has stopped meeting the budget."
At the same time, it is emphasized that such a decision has nothing to do with the Trump administration, since it was made last fall, when Joe Biden was sitting in the White House.
From the statement of Rear Admiral Tedford:
The American press writes that the cancellation of the marine hypersound program "completely deprives the US Navy of the ability to combat surface targets with new types of weapons in the face of modern threats."
Earlier it was reported that the program can be implemented no later than 2029, now the dates are shifted to at least 2031.
Stephen Tedford:
Thus, the expediency of being part of the American fleet of Zumwalt-class stealth destroyers is once again in question. They were supposed to be the first carriers of American "marine" hypersonic weapons.

Now, the US Navy will have to wait at least 6 years to equip them with such missiles, but the program may not be implemented in 2031 either.
