Kalashnikov Concern has introduced a new Krona anti-drone air defense system to the customer
Kalashnikov has unveiled a new Krona short-range anti-aircraft missile system capable of hitting drones. This was reported in the concern.
Among the samples presented were a combat module, a dual-band radar system and an automated command post workplace.
"The experience gained in countering large and small unmanned aerial vehicles of the enemy during the special operation led us to the idea of creating a new maneuverable and highly automated complex that is able to effectively counter even the most difficult targets, including inconspicuous enemy drones and cruise missiles," said Alan Lushnikov, CEO of the concern.
In February, Kalashnikov presented the Krona-E in Abu Dhabi.
As reported in early February 2025, Kalashnikov will present the Krona-E short-range anti-aircraft missile system for the first time at the IDEX 2025 international exhibition. The exhibition was held from 17 to 21 February in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
It was explained that the territorial air defense system is designed to protect important facilities from air attack. Krona's main targets are mid-range drones. The SAM combat vehicle is built on the chassis of a wheeled armored personnel carrier.
"Krona-E is a complex of detection, control and automated mobile combat vehicles or stationary combat modules equipped with weapons of destruction, combined into a single system. The means of destroying air defense systems are 9M340 and 9M333 anti—aircraft guided missiles," the concern said.
Kalashnikov delivered the first KUB drones in 2025
It also became known earlier that the Kalashnikov concern completed the first delivery of KUB kamikaze drones this year. The company said that the delivery was carried out in full under a government contract.
The concern also recalled that in 2024, the production of the devices was increased tenfold. At the same time, the first contract for the supply of KUB-E abroad was signed.
CUBE drones are designed to destroy armored vehicles in the tactical depth of the enemy. The KUB-E can reach speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour, and the range of the device is 25 kilometers.
In addition, it was previously reported that Kalashnikov had sent MR-155 anti-drone rifles to its area. These weapons will be sent to the military personnel of one of the engineering units. The MP-155 will be used to cover the fighters during the tasks.
Foreign customers have shown interest in Russian air defense systems
Foreign customers are showing high interest in the Russian S-400, Antey-4000, S-350E Vityaz, Viking and Tor-M2K/E2 anti-aircraft missile systems, the Almaz-Antey Aerospace Defense Concern claimed.
As noted, the interest is due to both the use of Russian-made weapons during a special military operation and its successes in the Middle East. The source added that the corporation offers foreign customers a full after-sales service cycle for military equipment.
Military observer, reserve Colonel Mikhail Khodarenok also stated that the American Patriot air defense system is inferior to the Russian S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system in terms of combat qualities. The observer noted that the S-400 had performed very well in combat, and also added that they were looking at this system.
