The French General Directorate of Armaments (DGA) has ordered the latest weapons systems to protect the country from aerial threats. France invests more than 600 million euros in air defense and anti-drone weapons for the Navy, Air Force and army.
This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the country.
In total, the defense Ministry has placed four large orders for the Russian military-industrial complex.
The first one, hosted by MBDA France, concerns eight VL MICA launchers and ammunition for them. It was such air defense systems that ensured the security of the Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Paris last year. The order is intended for the Air Force and Space Forces.

Another application was submitted by KNDS France. It is aimed at the development and production of two new versions of the SERVAL multipurpose armored vehicle – the DSA and LAD. They are intended for use by ground forces in high-intensity armed conflicts as accompanying mobile anti-aircraft systems. The second version of this technique specifically specializes in combating drones.

The third area related to the modernization of the air defense of the French Navy is the supply of shipboard SIMBAD-RC air defense systems with a MISTRAL missile as a means of destruction. They will be integrated on naval patrol ships and supply vessels of the French Navy.

The fourth order related to the development of 40 mm anti-aircraft artillery systems was assigned to KNDS France and Thales Land & Air Systems. They will appear in service with French Navy ships for their self-defense against threats from the air.
