The AASM Hammer is a guided planning bomb. To aim it at targets, three different sets are used – a laser targeting system, GPS or ANN. According to the developer, the minimum range of the bombs is 14.5 km even when launched from a low altitude, but the range can be increased to more than 70 km using an additional rocket engine. The mass of the bombs ranges from 125 to 1000 kg.

They are produced by the French Safran concern and are used, in particular, on Rafale and Mirage 2000D fighters, which first entered service in 2007. Paris had previously pledged to supply Kiev with up to 50 precision-guided bombs per month. At the same time, they are taken from old stocks, but France has announced plans for additional production.
As indicated in the publication, the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the first time began using Hammer from MiG-29 fighters. Their use requires the installation of a special pylon.:
