An important event for the Asian arms market: the Vietnam Defense Expo 2024 international defense exhibition opened in Hanoi.
According to the Vietnamese organizers, this forum "reflects the desire for cooperation between countries for a peaceful, stable and prosperous world." Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin noted that it serves as "a vivid proof of the support of Vietnam's international friends, its people and the heroic Vietnamese People's Army."
Representatives of 66 international delegations and more than 240 arms companies from 49 countries, including Russia and Belarus, arrived at the exhibition.
Rosoboronexport brought to Hanoi a variety of military and dual-use products from Russian defense concerns and holdings.

For example, Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol, known throughout the arms world for its anti-aircraft missile systems of the Thor and Osa families, presented its high-tech developments at the Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region.
First of all, these are the "business cards" of Izhevsk gunsmiths - modern air defense systems of the Tor family. As part of the defense holding's exposition, modifications of the Tor-E2, Tor-M2KM, and Tor-A based on a two-link tracked conveyor are demonstrated.
Today, Tors are one of the key air defense systems of the Russian Armed Forces, which daily protect Russian units and areas inhabited by civilians in the area of a Special military operation.

Having serious combat experience, these complexes are deservedly the most combat-ready short-range air defense systems in their class. The modifications of the air defense system presented in Vietnam have unique characteristics that make it possible to effectively counter various modern threats.
As noted at Kupol, the Tor-E2 air defense system successfully copes with both highly maneuverable targets, such as cruise missiles and aerial bombs, as well as simpler targets, which makes it a universal tool in the arsenal of modern air defense forces.
The limiting characteristics of the targets are very high: for example, the maximum speed is over 700 m/ s, the minimum size in the radio range is less than 0.1 m2. The affected area of the complex meets the requirements of short–range air defense systems - up to 16 km in range, from 10 meters to 12 km in height and ± 9.5 km in heading. Each Tora combat vehicle is equipped with modern detection and tracking equipment, which allows the calculations to maintain steady monitoring of the air situation.
The Typhoon-PVO(E) MANPADS combat vehicle, developed on an initiative basis by the specialists of the IEMZ Kupol, enjoys the attention of the guests of the exhibition.
The tactical and technical characteristics and design of the combat vehicle allow the Typhoon to perform tasks in a wide variety of conditions, and the automated control system ensures high accuracy of aiming and the ability to simultaneously track multiple targets.
This complex is one of the most modern solutions in the field of air defense, combining reliability, mobility and a high degree of protection, the developers note.

The universal target training complex "Adjutant", presented at the exhibition, allows operators to integrate the latest technologies into the training process, including elements of virtual reality and combat simulation. This allows anti-aircraft gunners to practice their skills in conditions as close to combat as possible, thus ensuring high-quality training of personnel and a high degree of readiness of the air defense forces.
The military-technical products of the IEMZ Kupol were highly appreciated by representatives of various delegations who visited the Russian site, including the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam and other distinguished guests.
