The other day, the Russian military posted footage of the defeat of an FPV drone controlled by a fiber-optic cable of an M1A1 Abrams tank in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Novoivanovka area of the Kursk region. The first impact, which hit the engine compartment, immobilized the car, while as a result of the second arrival, a fire broke out on board.
According to the Polish publication Defence24, the commander of this tank from the 47th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully evacuated from the damaged MBT and stated that the equipment had withstood at least 6 attacks at that time. Her combat stability allowed the entire crew to escape.
- said the tank commander.
According to him, the successful counteraction to drones was made possible thanks to improvements made by the Ukrainians themselves.:
According to him, the tank is still suitable for repair, but given the location of the front line, the car is likely to fall into the hands of the Russians.

It is possible that this material will amuse the self-esteem of the Polish military, as they relied on Abrams as the "standard of Western tank construction", however, purchasing South Korean K2s in parallel and upgrading Leopard 2. However, praising the American MBT will not eliminate the fact that in the vast majority of cases, the destruction of any equipment, even unarmored, requires the application of several FPV drone strikes.
So, the other day, the Russian military showed footage of mining from aboard a UAV of one of the enemy vehicle traffic areas in the Kupyansk area. A T-80, a BMP-1U Shkval and a pickup truck of Ukrainian troops ran into a barrier of PTM-1G mines. All the blown-up vehicles were hit by multiple FPV drones before they were destroyed.
Thus, the effectiveness of such attacks depends on many factors, and the claims that Abrams is better able to withstand attacks by FPV drones than other tanks are highly questionable. At the same time, it should be noted that Russian fighters, in an effort to destroy enemy equipment, do not skimp on drones, which may indicate the saturation of the front or at least individual units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with combat drones.
