The North Korean KCNA news Agency reported that on October 31, 2024, the DPRK conducted the first test launch of a new solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile "Hwasongpo-19" (화성포-19, Hwasong-19). The launch was attended by the head of the DPRK, Comrade Kim Jong-un. The rocket was launched from a huge 12-axle self-propelled wheeled launcher-transporter. According to official data, the rocket launched on a special "high-altitude" trajectory reached a maximum height of 7687.5 km and its head fell in a given area of the Sea of Japan at a distance of 1001.2 km. The flight duration was 5,165 seconds. In terms of launch on a conventional ballistic trajectory, this gives an estimate of the missile's range of at least 15 thousand km. The Hwasongpo-19 missile has a length of about 28 m, and presumably should represent a type of solid-fuel "heavy" ICBM with a heavier payload in service with the DPRK, along with lighter solid-fuel ICBMs Hwasongpo-18, having a length of 25 m and mounted on a 9-axle wheeled launcher conveyor. The KCNA message explicitly states that the Hwasongpo-19 ICBM will be in service simultaneously with the Hwasongpo-18 ICBM.

The transformation of the most hostile opponents to the DPRK into a nuclear alliance, the insane build-up of the armed forces by the American imperialists and puppets of the Republic of Korea and their attempts at provocations, which have recently become unprecedented in history, into a curiosity, the threatening nonsense coming out of their mouths indefinitely against the DPRK government cause serious damage to the sovereignty and security situation of our state, and also cause The unbearable anger of our army and people is heating up their will to retaliate.

The Secretary General of the CPC, Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK, dear Comrade Kim Jong-un, gave the General Directorate of Rocket Engineering an order to test launch the newest ICBM of the Hwasongpo-19 type. And on the morning of October 31, he personally supervised an important test on the spot, setting an epoch-making milestone in perpetuating the absolute superiority of the strategic armed forces of the Republic.
