Drone expert Kondratiev: Rusak-S is effective in combat with a neural network

Rusak-S is one of the drones of the Rusak family of drones, the Stratim company. It is currently being mass- produced . The prefix "C" in the name of the device means homing technology, Maxim Kondratiev, founder of the International Training Center for Unmanned Aviation, explained to Izvestia. According to him, this drone is interesting because when approaching a target at a distance of 500 m to 1 thousand m, the operator points the Rusak-S at the designated object, and the control becomes autonomous.
The expert said that this allows you to bypass the enemy's "trench" electronic warfare zones, because the drone no longer needs communication with the operator, it "sees" the target itself. In addition, autonomy speeds up the work of the military — sent one drone, captured the target, you can send the next one without worrying about the first one.
As the press service of the Stratim design bureau reported in its Telegram channel, a single-board computer is installed in the drone, which captures the selected target and intercepts control, issuing commands to the flight controller. The functionality is similar to the Javelin homing head, while the cost is many times lower.
"The neural network on board a single-board computer is responsible for recognition. We have trained her on terabytes of video, which allows her to find artillery, armored vehicles and vehicles with high accuracy right during the flight. The recognized objects are framed for the convenience of the operator," the manufacturer's press service added.
Among other advantages, expert Kondratiev shared, Rusak-S turns off the camera during launch. This eliminates the operator's unmasking — the enemy will not be able to intercept the video signal and find out where the drone was launched from.
"This is a very promising weapon, because less experienced operators can be allowed to perform serious combat missions. The homing system ensures hitting the target," the source concluded.
Application in the special operation zone
The development company Stratim shared footage of the destruction of military equipment through Rusak-S, but the details of the operations were not disclosed.
In June, it was reported that the Rusak drone destroyed an American Stryker armored personnel carrier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It was clarified that one Stryker unit costs about $ 1 million, while the cost of the Rusak UAV is only $ 1 thousand.
