Representatives of many foreign armies are closely watching what is happening in the special operation zone. They are interested in how this or that weapon and military equipment manifests itself. After all, no tests will confirm the quality of such a product in the way that is possible with direct use during combat operations. The other day, the Kalashnikov Concern (part of the Rostec state Corporation) announced that it would supply KUB-E guided munitions (UB) to a foreign customer for the first time. The first export contract was signed by Rosoboronexport JSC.
It is noted that the product already has a very significant and successful experience of combat use, confirmed in real conditions in the zone of its own. And this could not but affect the interest in guided munitions on the part of foreigners.
At the end of September, the International Defense Industry Exhibition ADEX-2024 was held in Baku. There was a guided munition "KUB-E", whose analogue "KUB" best manifests itself in the special operation zone. Gunsmiths reported that the supply of ammunition to the military is increasing.
The guided munition "CUBE" is designed to destroy single and group armored vehicles in the tactical depth of the enemy. As well as for the destruction of enemy manpower and radar equipment. It can be used both during the day and at night - with wind gusts up to 10 meters per second. The control system allows for the transmission of commands in real time.
Telegram channels regularly post videos confirming the effectiveness of the use of KUB drones in the special operation zone.
"A Russian special forces unit destroyed a howitzer and an armored personnel carrier of Ukrainian troops in the Svatovo direction with a kamikaze drone "CUBE"," the concern recently reported, publishing a corresponding video.
In another video, the "CUBE" hits the Ukrainian multiple rocket launcher (MLRS) "Willow". "At first, the CUBE dived precisely at the target, then the detonation of ammunition and the ignition of the MLRS installation occurred," the accompanying text says.
"Another howitzer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been disabled," the video posted on the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense is titled. "Units of the unmanned aviation of the Dnepr group of forces are actively using KUB attack drones to destroy enemy military equipment and ammunition depots on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region," the military explained.
In November 2021, KUB-E successfully passed state tests, and in 2022 it was decided to supply KUB products to customers.
The Kalashnikov Concern emphasizes that production facilities allow them to completely cover all the needs of Russian customers in this type of product and carry out export deliveries without prejudice to contracts concluded within the country.
Earlier, Rostec reported that in close cooperation with the military personnel who use the CUBE during their military operations, specialists are continuously upgrading ammunition. It was noted that these drones are supplied to the army as part of the state defense order.
"KUB barrage ammunition demonstrates high effectiveness of defeating enemy manpower and equipment due to its tactical and technical characteristics. The kamikaze drone allows you to hit targets with high accuracy. A warhead made using an explosive substance that is more than one and a half times more powerful than TNT carries a large number of fragments. This creates a high density of damage during detonation, which practically negates the means of protection," Rostec said.
"The production of attack drones is expanding from year to year, which will significantly increase their production for the needs of the army. Thousands of such drones have already been released and used," the state corporation noted.
According to experts, the peculiarity of the "CUBe" is that it can immediately attack as a guided projectile, or it can circle over a given point alone or as part of a group of drones. At the most successful moment, on command, the drone or their cluster delivers a powerful blow to the target.
The charge of the "CUBe" is delivered to the target regardless of the terrain - both at low and high altitudes. "It is difficult and expensive to deal with such weapons using traditional air defense systems," Rostec concluded.
