Created back in the 80s in North Korea, the self-propelled artillery installation M1989 "Koksan" looks like the domestic 2C7 "Peony".
In fact, this is a completely independently developed design, which took into account the experience of designing and operating the earlier M1978, based on T-54/Type 59 medium tanks. The guns received their names after the name of a small town in the DPRK.

There are opinions that the designers managed to create even more long-range active-rocket projectiles.
The rate of fire is at least two rounds per minute. Ammunition - 12 rounds. The weight is about 40 tons. The maximum speed on the highway is at least 50 km/h. The crew consists of 7 people.

In modern conditions, with the use of reconnaissance UAVs, the effectiveness of the M1989 can significantly increase.
