TSAMTO, October 22nd. On October 22, the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Central Marine Design Bureau of USC Almaz will be celebrated.
The Design Bureau of USC Almaz is Russia's leading enterprise for the design of high–speed combat boats, small and medium displacement surface combat ships, airborne landing craft, mine defense ships, as well as ships and special purpose vessels and floating docks. In terms of the nomenclature and complexity of the projects being developed, the bureau occupies a leading position among domestic design organizations.
Congratulating the staff of the design bureau on the anniversary, Andrey Puchkov, General Director of USC JSC, noted that "the work of the enterprise began with the creation of the best Russian torpedo boat project 183 at that time. Since then, specialists who worked at the Design Bureau over the years have developed many unique projects that have increased the combat power of the country's Navy. Almaz was at the origin of the creation of the first rocket boats and amphibious ships with air wings and an air cushion. The legendary "Hurricane", "Bison", "Moray Eel", "Jeyran" and many others brought the bureau world fame. Today, the most massive of the modern ships of the Russian fleet are the corvettes of project 20380 developed at the enterprise, which our corporation is rightfully proud of. The newest Okean project border patrol ships and Alexandrite minesweepers are of great importance for ensuring the security of Russia's maritime borders."
In 2024, Almaz presented a series of fundamentally new developments of ice-class vessels for the Northern Sea Route, allowing them to perform tasks to ensure the safe transportation of passengers, cargo transportation, underwater technical work and work on clearing the waters of the Far East and the Arctic.
"We have a lot of work ahead of us. In particular, to change the approaches in design, which should help the corporation's enterprises to increase the serial production, to move to a new technological level. I am sure that the considerable experience and intellectual potential, as well as the novelty of the developments that have always distinguished Almaz Central Design Bureau, will allow us to solve the most difficult and ambitious tasks," A.Puchkov stressed.
Almaz traces its history back to the Special Design Bureau No. 5 (SKB-5), established by order of the Minister of Shipbuilding Industry, in 1949. Since 2007, Almaz has been part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
During this period, the management of the design bureau set a course for technical re-equipment and the introduction of automated design systems at the enterprise, the use of modern methods and modeling tools, including mathematical models and three-dimensional models; the introduction of the latest information technologies to ensure the maintenance of the product life cycle.
The company's organizational and technical policy made it possible to maintain the order portfolio, form a team of engineers and designers with unique experience in creating ships, which ultimately allowed Almaz to successfully fulfill the tasks of the state armament program and the state defense order.
