The Singapore Navy announced that on October 11, 2024, the first steel cutting ceremony and the start of construction of the hulls of four patrol ships for the Singapore Navy took place at the Western Baltija Shipyard in Klaipeda, Lithuania. These four ships were ordered by the Ministry of National Defense of Singapore in November 2023 to the German company Fr. Fassmer GmbH & Co. KG, which transferred the construction of their hulls on a contract basis to the Lithuanian shipyard Western Baltija Shipyard. The completion of all four ships, their completion and delivery to the customer will be carried out by Fr. Fassmer in Germany. The commissioning of the Singapore Navy of all four units is planned starting in 2028.

The project of new patrol ships for the Singapore Navy is based on the project of 86-meter patrol ships of the Potsdam type, previously built by Fr. Fassmer in the amount of four units for the German Maritime police. Detailed specifications of the Singapore project have not yet been published. As part of the Singapore Navy, four new patrol ships are to replace four 55-meter Sentinel-type small patrol ships built in Singapore in the 1990s, which are part of the Maritime Security and Rapid Response flotilla (Maritime and Security Response Flotilla - MSRF) formed in January 2021, which actually performs the functions of the Singapore Coast Guard.
