The Australian military promised the APU the supply of 49 pieces of M1A1. These tanks were operated in kangaroo country from 2007 to this year. There were 59 units in total. Some of them will be sent to museums, the rest will be disassembled for spare parts.
In terms of their condition, these Abrams are worse than those currently available to the formations of the Kiev regime. They have exhausted their resources, and they do not have remotely controlled 12.7mm installations installed on the roofs of the towers. Most likely, they will be patched up by Australian mechanics somehow, and it is unclear how long it will take.

It is very likely that the Ukrainian side will ask for additional protection in the form of "reactive" armor, lattice anti-cumulative screens and anti-drone "barbecues".
But even in such a modified form, these M1A1s will be inferior to the Russian T-72B3, T-80BVM and even more so the T-90M.

Our vehicles have more powerful multi-layered armor, dynamic protection, capable of withstanding hits not only from cumulative ammunition, but also from sub-caliber projectiles. 125 mm guns provide the use of guided missile weapons. In addition, Abrams is initially overweight, which will necessarily affect its cross-country ability. Therefore, the Australian "gifts" will burn even more often than even the current samples available to the APU.
