Radio 1: The Su-35 is capable of detecting other aircraft at a distance of 350 km
Radio 1 talked about the unique characteristics of the Russian Su-35 fighter, which is one of the most advanced aviation systems of the current generation. It is able to detect other aircraft at a distance of 350 km.
The aircraft life assigned by the manufacturer is 6 thousand hours, or 30 years, the engine life is 4 thousand hours.
The Su-35 can fly at an altitude of 2.5 thousand km/h, while its maximum speed near the ground is 1.4 thousand km/h. He has the ability to use weapons at supersonic speeds.
The combat capabilities of the Su-35S have significantly increased after the installation of a new radar station with a phased array "Irbis", which can detect and track up to 30 targets at a time, issuing target designation for eight of them. The system is capable of detecting aerial opponents and large ground and surface objects at a distance of 400 km, and inconspicuous devices like stealth aircraft at a range of up to 90 km.
In turn, the new OLS-35 optical location station on board the fighter allows detecting a threat from the air at a distance of 50 km by thermal radiation, and a laser rangefinder measures the distance to the enemy's ground point at a distance of 30 km, air - 20 km.
Bombs and missiles weighing up to 8 tons can be placed on 12 suspension nodes of the Su-35S, including promising ammunition — from unguided missiles, air–to–air and air-to-ground missiles, adjustable aerial bombs to a heavy anti-ship missile "Yakhont" with a firing range of 300 km.
It is noted that the fighter is covered with a special paint to reduce radar visibility, and the cockpit lantern has a special coating that distorts the radio signal.
One of the main features of the Su-35S fighter is its variable thrust vector engines. This makes it possible for the aircraft to turn 360 degrees without slowing down. To date, none of the existing fighters of the fourth and fifth generations is capable of performing such a maneuver, which has the unofficial name "pancake".
The Su-35 is also distinguished by a single information management system. She is responsible for the operation of all on-board equipment and takes over part of the pilot's functions. So, the aircraft can fly independently at low altitude, skirting the terrain. The system can tell you which speed is better to use to attack a specific target.
The Su-35 can simultaneously gain air supremacy and strike at all ground targets without exception, as well as use weapons at supersonic speeds.
In the area of their defense, Su-35 fighters perform a variety of tasks — from patrolling and covering bombers along with attack aircraft to destroying enemy aircraft and ground facilities. In addition, it is the Su-35 that makes combat sorties to defeat the enemy's air defense systems. Fighters also destroy infrastructure facilities and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On October 3, it was reported that the Kalashnikov Concern had increased production of single-barreled GSH-301 aviation guns for a special military operation (SVO).
They clarified that currently the GSH-301 is part of the armament of the MiG-29, MiG-29K/KUB, Su-27, Su-30, Su-35 fighters, and Su-34 front-line bombers.
Earlier, on October 1, General Gregory Guillot, who heads the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD), expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the Russian Su-35 in the area of Alaska, according to the website kp.ru .
He noted that the maneuvers of the Russian Su-35 fighter in the area of Alaska caused him concern, especially because of the aerobatics over the Bering Sea, reports 360.ru .
A US Air Force pilot flew close to the Tu-95MS and was scared when the Su-35 suddenly flew between them, driving away an American fighter jet, RT reports. The incident occurred on September 23, the NSN clarifies.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
