The UAV "Ghoul" is a standard multirotor drone with four battery—powered propellers, Maxim Kondratiev, founder of the International Training Center for Unmanned Aviation, told Izvestia. At the same time, the kamikaze drone is characterized by a complex filling, which allows it to inflict great damage to the enemy.
The flight range is provided by repeaters, there are two variations — ground and air. As the interlocutor of the publication notes, repeaters also help the operator of the device to remain invisible to the enemy. In addition, the drone is resistant to electronic warfare due to the possibility of changing the carrier frequency in the field. That is, if interference is detected on the main channel, you can switch to another one.
As TASS clarified in 2023, with reference to the leader of the development team, "Ghoul" was created in the Sverdlovsk region. He also told reporters that one of his priorities is the safety of the operator, so the drone must have an ammunition cocking system and a fuse.
Among other things, the Ghoul is capable of carrying RPG-7 projectiles, RCG-3M hand-held anti-tank grenades and high-explosive fragmentation charges, which are made by the fighters themselves on the line of contact.
People's Drone
According to the developer, the idea of creating a drone appeared back in 2020, when Turkish Bayraktar drones were involved in the Karabakh conflict and it became clear that Russia should also develop in this direction.
Fundraising for the development began on Telegram. Then a lot of citizens responded and production became widespread. At the same time, the enthusiast added, the body and beams of the drone cost several hundred rubles. So, the drone began to be used in the Donetsk direction in the area of the special operation in the autumn of 2023.
Currently, the name of the creator of the "Ghoul" is known — Vladimir Tkachuk. On the air of the Zvezda TV channel, he spoke about a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place on September 19 at a Special technical center in St. Petersburg. Tkachuk shared that the inspiration for the creation of the "Ghoul" was military commander Vladlen Tatarsky. Together they attended aviation clubs and recruited sports drone specialists to create a military product.
Application in the area of its
In March, it became known that the drone "Ghoul" destroyed an American Abrams tank. It was clarified that a PG-7V charge was used. Later, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published footage of the strike on the tank and its consequences .
The high maneuverability of the "Ghoul" and its small size make it possible to attack the enemy even in dugouts. Last fall, the Telegram channel "Turned at War", associated with the developers of the drone, reported that a drone destroyed a dugout of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Belgorod border.
TASS also reported that the operators of the "Ghoul" were able to hit a boat with Ukrainian troops on the Dnieper, en route to the Antonovsky Bridge area. In addition, the enemy's manpower was destroyed in the fortification under the bridge.
The effectiveness of the "Ghoul" is also noted abroad. "The deadly precision of this drone has already changed the nature of military operations in the zone of its own," writes Forbes.
