The main damage to forces and means in the Ukrainian conflict is caused by drones and artillery. In this regard, counter-battery warfare plays an important role, the key attribute of which is target detection radars that fix the positions from which the shelling is conducted. However, these radars themselves are at risk of being hit due to the work of the enemy's electronic warfare equipment.
- it says on the website of the Swedish defense concern Saab.
In this regard, the company has developed a new version of the Arthur counter-battery radar:
The first customer of the new modification was the British Army, which purchased 5 radars, giving them the designation TAIPAN.
- the company explained.

Arthur radar in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine
They will replace the earlier version of the Arthur radar, which has the designation MAMBA, which has been in service with Britain since 2003. MAMBA is capable of detecting fire from guns or rocket launchers at a range of 20 to 25 km, 120 mm mortars - 35-40 km. The later version of Arthur C has a larger antenna and detects artillery fire with a lower error at a distance of 31 km, mortars – 55 km, and missiles at a distance of up to 60 km. Option D increases the detection range to 100 km, provides even greater accuracy and the ability to simultaneously track up to 100 targets.
The characteristics of the new modification of the TAIPAN are not disclosed. Apparently, they were purchased by Britain due to the transfer of all Arthur-MAMBA radars to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The presence of these radars in Ukraine has been recorded repeatedly.
