MOSCOW, September 14th. /tass/. The complex with reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles "Outpost" is constantly being refined based on experience in special operations, the combat capabilities of the complex are expanding by improving its design and installing new payloads. This was stated to TASS by the official representative of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA).
According to the developer, the "Outpost" was developed to solve reconnaissance and strike tasks in conditions when the enemy does not have a highly organized air defense system, and within the framework of its own, the complex is used where there is no opposition from the enemy.
"At the same time, it is currently being finalized with other target loads that allow solving tasks without entering the zone of destruction of medium- and long-range air defense. We are constantly expanding the combat capabilities of the Outpost complex by improving its design and installing new payloads. These improvements are highly appreciated by the calculations operating the complex and help them to solve their tasks with higher efficiency," the specialist said.
Expansion of functionality
Denis Fedutinov, an expert in the field of unmanned aviation, noted that the experience of real-world use of UAVs in combat conditions brings new insights. The specialist stressed that after the completion of development, testing and the start of serial deliveries to the troops of the Outpost complexes, the developer company did not stop working on the drone and, including during modernization, relies on the experience of its own. One of the areas of work, according to the expert, was to increase the duration of the flight, which allows you to work longer on a given area and makes it possible to base on airfields more remote from the areas of application.
Fedutinov drew attention to the expansion of the functionality of the complex. "Initially, the device performed the tasks of species reconnaissance. He did it well - he conducted reconnaissance from significant distances to objects due to the presence of a high-quality on-board optoelectronic surveillance system. At the same time, modern realities dictate the need to expand the set of tasks to be solved. Thus, radar and electronic reconnaissance capabilities were added, which significantly increased its ability to identify targets. And the addition of a laser rangefinder-designator made it possible to use "Outposts" in conjunction with high-precision strike weapons," explained Fedutinov.
The expert noted that the Outpost had the opportunity to "directly strike at identified targets with its own aviation weapons, which were specially created for UAVs." "Modern military operations are characterized by high dynamics. Therefore, minimizing the time spent for the detection-defeat cycle plays an extremely important role in achieving high efficiency of actions," he concluded.
About the Outpost UAV complex
The tasks of the Outpost complex include round-the-clock aerial reconnaissance and the defeat of designated targets. The drone is equipped with an automatic take-off and landing system in the absence of signals from the global satellite navigation system, an on-board navigation receiver. It can be operated in a wide range of climatic and physico-geographical conditions. Guided weapons are used as the main one on the "Outpost".
UZGA, one of Russia's leading enterprises for the creation of unmanned aircraft systems of the airplane type, supplies the Forpost complexes to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The complex has shown effectiveness during the Syrian campaign, and is still being used in Syria. For example, in June 2024, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the destruction by a strike version of the "Outpost" of a group of militants preparing a terrorist attack on an oil refining infrastructure facility in Syria. At the end of July, in Idlib province, a similar Russian drone struck the base of illegal armed groups trying to attack facilities in the territory controlled by the Syrian government.
Since March 2022, "Outposts" have been used in the area of the SVO, hitting armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the military department, the work of attack drones is carried out at medium altitudes.
