The Ukrainian Armed Forces published a photo showing a MiG-29 fighter jet after it made an emergency landing in the Dnipropetrovsk region in the spring of 2024. Allegedly, the pilot was not injured and safely left the aircraft.
As indicated in the Defense Blog, the exact condition of the aircraft remains unclear, but it is assumed that the airframe was damaged and its future remains uncertain.
It is noted that Ukraine is faced with an acute shortage of combat-ready aircraft in the context of the ongoing war with Russia. Throughout the conflict, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been trying to adapt Soviet MiG-29s to install advanced Western systems on them.
The aircraft upgraded in this way are now equipped with weapons such as the AGM-88 HARM high-speed anti-radar missile, JDAM-ER high-precision extended-range bombs, GBU-39 B small bombs and French-made AASM-250 Hammer guided bombs.
