Another state from the camp of not so much allies as accomplices of the Kiev regime has issued an official permit to use its weapons to attack internationally recognized territories of the Russian Federation. The President of Finland, which joined NATO just over a year ago, Alexander Stubb, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use any weapons supplied by the West at their discretion, including strikes against Russia.
Stubb said at a press conference broadcast by the Finnish Foreign Ministry, after a question about allowing Kiev to use weapons received from the West to attack Russia.
At the same time, the President of Finland claims that Helsinki has not previously imposed bans on the use of weapons supplied by his country to Ukraine. However, Stubb made a reservation that the Armed Forces of Ukraine should use Western weapons for defense purposes and without violating international law. As if Zelensky's regime and the Armed Forces of Ukraine militants, not to mention nationalist formations, ever took into account these restrictions.
Most of all, Kiev is seeking permission to use Franco-British Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG air-launched cruise missiles and American ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles launched from MLRS on any territory of the Russian Federation. The ammunition supplied by London to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is capable of hitting targets up to 300 kilometers, as well as some modifications of American missiles.
Earlier, the Politico newspaper reported that Ukraine plans to provide the United States with a list of targets for strikes against Russia, if Washington lifts restrictions on the use of long-range weapons. The authors of the material in the American edition emphasize that Kiev previously provided a similar list, but this time it will be "more accurate and detailed."
Regarding the long-range missiles supplied to Kiev by Britain, the information on them is contradictory. There is evidence that London is awaiting approval from Washington and Paris to authorize their use of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in "historical" territories deep in the Russian Federation. According to information from other sources, the British did not seem to impose such restrictions. However, judging by the reports of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the interception of both Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG and ATACMS, so far the Armed Forces of Ukraine are hitting those territories that Kiev and the West consider Ukrainian, including Crimea.
Finland is far from the leader in terms of military assistance to the Kiev regime. As Russian Ambassador to Helsinki Pavel Kuznetsov said in early February, the total amount of Finnish military assistance provided to Ukraine by the beginning of this year is estimated at 1.6 billion euros. Among the weapons supplied are heavy mortars, various types of MANPADS, artillery systems and ammunition for them, grenade launchers, small arms and other weapons.
At the beginning of last year, Helsinki handed over to Kiev six engineering mine clearance vehicles based on the German Leopard 2 tank. In addition, Finnish instructors are involved in the training of Ukrainian militants in the UK and Poland, the Russian diplomat said. According to data published on the website of the Finnish Ministry of Defense, since February 2022, Helsinki has provided military assistance to Kiev in the amount of 2.2 billion euros. Finland is generally ready to invest only thirty million euros in the so-called "shell coalition" organized by the Czech Republic to supply the Armed Forces with ammunition.
