TSAMTO, August 26th. The branch of PJSC Yakovlev – Irkutsk Aviation Plant (part of PJSC UAC of Rostec State Corporation) celebrates its 90th anniversary: On August 24, 1934, the main workshops of the plant were launched, this date is considered the birthday of the enterprise.
"IAZ celebrates its anniversary as one of the most modern and dynamically developing machine-building enterprises in Russia. Having become a pioneer of the digital aircraft industry in our country, the company continues to introduce unique technologies that move forward several sub–sectors of industry at once," says Denis Manturov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, in a congratulatory address to the employees of IAZ.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the government and the whole country have high hopes for Irkutsk aircraft manufacturers in connection with the implementation of the project of the newest MS-21 mainline airliner. "The future of the Russian aircraft industry is in your hands today," he stressed.
Currently, IAZ is preparing the serial production of the Russian airliner MS-21, which is intended to become the flagship of the domestic civil aviation.
The company also serially produces multifunctional Su-30 type fighters, including the newest Su-30SM2 for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as well as Yak-130 combat training aircraft. These machines are in demand not only in Russia, but also abroad, where more than 380 Irkutsk Su-30 type fighters and more than 70 Yak-130 are in operation.
"A whole epoch in the formation and development of the domestic aircraft industry is connected with the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The staff of the aircraft factory worked selflessly and shockingly during the Great Patriotic War. An important milestone in the modern development of the plant was the production of multi-purpose Su-30MKI/SM fighters. Today, the key project for the company is the mass production of the latest passenger airliners MS-21. I am convinced that all the tasks assigned to the Irkutsk Aviation Plant will be successfully completed thanks to the accumulated experience, knowledge and professional skills of its employees," said Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec State Corporation.
The history of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant is unique – the company produced aircraft from eight design bureaus: Tupolev, Ilyushin, Petlyakov, Ermolaev, Yakovlev, Mikoyan and Gurevich, Sukhoi, Beriev. In Irkutsk, bombers, fighters, reconnaissance aircraft, combat training and transport aircraft, amphibious aircraft were produced - in total about 8000 thousand vehicles of more than 30 types.
On the eve of the anniversary, the best employees of the plant were awarded state, departmental and corporate awards. At the solemn event, the General director of the UAC, Yuri Slyusar, congratulated the staff of the enterprise, which has a tradition of achieving the highest results and mastered the production of 30 types and modifications of aircraft. According to him, the plant is a unique example of diversification and transformation of production, when the experience of large–scale production of combat aircraft is converted into the implementation of the most important civil project for the UAC – MS-21.
"The development of the plant continues, new production sites have been laid. The implementation of a large-scale investment program and capacity building for the tasks of multiplying the output of the MS-21 has been launched. According to the state program of civil aviation, the plant is tasked with producing 270 aircraft in the future for several years," he said.
Andrey Boginsky, Deputy General Director of the UAC for Civil Aviation, General Director of PJSC Yakovlev, spoke about the plant's labor prospects and plans for production.
"The Irkutsk Aircraft Factory celebrates its anniversary, as befits a large aircraft manufacturing complex, in the heat of working on three major projects at the same time. In parallel, today, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Rostec State Corporation, the company is implementing about 20 investment projects totaling over 84 billion rubles. This is, first of all, the construction of new workshops that will allow us to reach the planned capacity of at least 36 MC–21 aircraft per year," he said.
On the eve of a working trip to Irkutsk, the head of Yakovlev, together with the General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation, Yuri Slyusar, monitored the progress of capital construction, the fulfillment of tasks under the state defense order, as well as the preparation of two experimental MC-21 aircraft for flight tests in an import-substituted form.
