Russian units repel attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and clear forests from saboteurs
In the Kursk region, the enemy began to experience serious problems when working with UAVs. Starlink terminals, with which the Armed Forces of Ukraine maintain communication, transmit information, and control certain types of drones, are not currently operating in Russia — this has significantly reduced the activity of using drones. Nevertheless, fierce fighting continues in the region — on Sunday, August 18, our troops repelled several attacks by Ukrainian units and destroyed sabotage groups in the forests of the region.
Shut down the drones
In the areas of the Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops invaded, the activity of enemy UAVs decreased, Izvestia correspondent Pavel Volkov reports from the scene.
— The servicemen say that the AFU has stopped working Starlink in Russia, — he said. — For this reason, their efficiency has decreased, and they are also unable to assemble the same large group of drones here as in Donbass. But still there are dangerous Ukrainian UAVs in the air — the same Maviki.

Not far from Kursk, in the village of Zhernovets, a large temporary accommodation facility for about 2 thousand people was recently opened.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces did not abandon attempts to break deep into Russian territory, Roman Alekhine, adviser to the governor of the Kursk Region, told Izvestia.
— There was a powerful attack on the Sudzhansky district in the area of Goncharovka — four tanks, about a dozen armored vehicles, — he specified. — They say it was one of the fiercest battles in the entire period on Kursk land. But the enemy was stopped, thrown back, and a lot of equipment was burned. The APU lost a lot of people.
On Sunday night, everyone expected a strike in the Glushkovsky district, he said.

"But the VKS and the rocket men worked very powerfully at night," Roman Alekhine explained. — Planes struck with bombs, Iskanders flew. We managed to work out in time on the accumulation of the enemy in the border area.
The evacuation of civilians from the border areas continues in the region, Roman Alekhine noted.
— Now they are taking out those who have to be persuaded, who still have equipment, animals, — he noted. — The enemy is still chasing after civilian FPV drones and knocking them out, although he knows for sure that this is an evacuation of the civilian population.
Humanitarian aid is constantly being brought to Kursk, there is enough of it, the adviser to the governor assured.

— Volunteers collect provisions, water and take them to the Korenevsky direction, — he noted.
Earlier, on August 17, the Russian Defense Ministry said that it was assessing with due seriousness the incoming information about the Kiev regime's preparations for a strike on the Kursk nuclear power plant.
The ministry clarified that Ukraine is preparing a provocation to accuse the Russian Federation of "self-shooting" the station. The military department stressed that if such a plan begins to be implemented, Russia will immediately take tough retaliatory military and military-technical measures.
The enemy is suffering losses
The Russian Defense Ministry reported details of the fighting in recent days. On Saturday, August 17, units of the North group of troops in the forests destroyed enemy mobile groups trying to penetrate deep into Russian territory in the direction of Alekseevsky and Kauchuk.
In addition, attacks by assault groups of three brigades with the support of armored vehicles in the direction of the settlements of Korenevo, Russian and Cherkassk Porechnoye were repelled.
Clusters of manpower and equipment of four AFU brigades were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Novaya Sorochina, Lyubimovka, south-east of Korenevo, Leonidovo and Kositsa.

In the area of the village of Sennoye, Sumy region, a missile strike destroyed the launcher of the Iris-T anti-aircraft missile system and the TRML-4 radar station.
Tactical aviation struck the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ammunition and fuel depots in the Sumy region.
During the day, the losses of the Armed Forces amounted to 300 soldiers, 31 armored vehicles, including three tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, three armored personnel carriers, 25 armored vehicles, eight cars, an Iris-T air defense missile launcher, a field artillery gun and an electronic warfare station.

Tactical aviation has attacked reserves, ammunition and fuel depots of four Ukrainian brigades in the Sumy region.
During the day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 300 servicemen and 27 armored vehicles, including six tanks, one IFV, two armored personnel carriers, 18 armored vehicles, as well as four vehicles, an MLRS launcher and two units of engineering equipment, including an engineering barrier vehicle.
In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 3,460 servicemen, 50 tanks, 25 infantry fighting vehicles, 45 armored personnel carriers, 262 armored fighting vehicles, 115 vehicles, five anti-aircraft missile systems, seven multiple launch rocket launchers, including three HIMARS MLRS and one MLRS. As well as 25 field artillery guns, four electronic warfare stations, four units of engineering equipment, including two engineering barrage vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearance unit.
