TSAMTO, August 13th. The editorial board of the National Defense magazine for the Army-2024 forum has published a series of materials on advanced developments in the Russian defense industry. Below is an article dedicated to the innovative developments of JSC "TSSC".
Shipbuilding in Russia and around the world has historically been an indicator of progress: It is not only inextricably linked with the main industries of any state and has a direct impact on the development of the economy, but also contributes to the development of the country's military power.
The national interests and strategic priorities of the country currently being implemented require the development of measures to achieve the indicators of global shipbuilding and ensure the growth of economic potential through the introduction of process innovations affecting production methods and logistics of the enterprise in its main and auxiliary activities.
For 85 years, JSC Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Technology (JSC CTSS) has been successfully solving the tasks of creating infrastructure, technologies and equipment for the development of the Naval and civil fleets of Russia and its friendly countries.
JSC "CTSS" today represents the leading technological center of shipbuilding in the Russian Federation, which includes research and production companies and design bureaus with vast historical experience and significant potential.
This multidisciplinary scientific and production complex, which is a developer of technologies for the construction of warships and civilian marine equipment, carries out complex design of shipyards and shipbuilding enterprises, specializes in the development of fishing vessels, the development and manufacture of ship fittings for Navy ships and civilian vessels, actively participates in the creation of technologies for the development of the Arctic.
The competence of the Center also includes calculations of the complexity of building ships and vessels, pricing policy in the industry.
Over the years, the Center's projects have built the main enterprises of the Russian shipbuilding industry from the North-West to the Far East – from the Northern Machine-Building Enterprise to the Zvezda shipbuilding Complex.
Currently, JSC "CTSS" confirms the status of the basic design organization of the industry: complex reconstruction and technical re-equipment projects of both enterprises of the military-industrial complex, as well as civil shipbuilding and ship repair are successfully carried out.
In particular, at the moment one of the global projects of JSC CTSS is the large–scale reconstruction and re-equipment of JSC PO Sevmash, one of the largest shipbuilding complexes in Russia. The purpose of this project is to significantly reduce the construction time of ships.
In addition to the development of infrastructure for Sevmash, the Center has also developed and implemented process innovations: technologies for cold bending parts of the main hull of submarines of recent generations, fundamental changes have been made to the industry standard regulating the use of resource-saving cold bending technology.
In addition, for the construction of the submarine, a number of works were carried out to optimize and develop assembly and welding technologies used in the manufacture of particularly critical hull structures, and other works.
It is also worth noting the project of deep modernization of JSC Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant (JSC OSSZ) in order to create a "Digital Shipyard". The main purpose of the projected facility is to create a modern, high-tech, compactly located, environmentally friendly special complex for the construction, modernization and repair of ships, as well as infrastructure for digital support of ship construction of the annual estimated production program, in order to reduce the total costs of ship construction, the costs of FSUE Rosmorport for fleet operation and reduce the cost of services provided in ports.
In addition, JSC "CTSS" implements large-scale projects at such enterprises as JSC "Admiralty Shipyards", JSC "Baltic Plant", JSC "SSZ "Vimpel", PJSC "Krasnoe Sormovo Plant", etc.
In recent years, JSC "CTSS" has designed and produced a number of equipment for improving domestic shipbuilding: thermal cutting complexes; robotic complexes for laser cutting, welding and surfacing of marine engineering products; pipe bending machines and many other innovative developments.
For 50 years, JSC "CTSS" has been working in the field of composite shipbuilding. Recently, a number of products made of composite materials have been created, for example, the housings of antenna communication buoys made of organoplastics and fiberglass, which have unique properties. A Laser center and a Virtual Research Center are working for the domestic shipbuilding industry as part of JSC CTSS.
JSC Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Technology is a leader in the field of marine reinforcement engineering. Since the foundation of the organization in 1939, the Center has been the lead developer and the base enterprise in the field of design, organization and implementation of mass production of marine pipeline fittings and filters for the needs of the Russian Navy, military-technical cooperation and civil shipbuilding. Pipeline fittings and filters developed by JSC "CTSS" are used on all Russian and export ships, which have already been supplied with more than 25,000 standard sizes.
High production and economic performance indicators allow the Center to declare itself as a reliable supplier of ship fittings for newly built or modernized ships and vessels.
By the decision of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation dated April 2, 2014, JSC CTSS is the leading research organization of the military-industrial complex in the field of Information, analytical and regulatory support in the field of pricing, labor intensity and labor rationing in the shipbuilding industry, databases and technical and economic expertise of prices during development, production, operation, repair, maintenance and disposal of ships and vessels".
In accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 4, 2023 No. 542, JSC "CTSS" has been included by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia in the list of organizations that verify the reliability (expertise) of the estimated cost of construction of a vessel and verify the validity of the justification of the price of design, construction, repair, and disposal of a vessel since May 19, 2023.
The examinations of the prices of ships and vessels conducted by JSC CTSS make it possible, on the one hand, to reduce economically unjustified budget expenditures, and on the other hand, to ensure the profitability of contracts.
The organization actively cooperates with customers and scientific organizations from friendly countries in the field of design and modernization of shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises, complexes to ensure the shore-based supply of naval equipment, its operation, maintenance and repair, as well as the sale of civilian products and services. CTSC JSC has many years of successful experience in this area of activity: facilities have been designed, their construction has been ensured, equipment has been supplied and put into operation, specialists have been trained for countries such as India, Vietnam, Algeria, Angola, Cuba, Ethiopia, etc.
One of the extensive activities of JSC "CTSS" is the development of technical projects and working design documentation for construction, repair and technical documentation for repair and modernization, renovation, classification of all types of marine and river vessels.
The Center designs fishing and fish processing vessels for various purposes, refrigerated transport, dry cargo, special research vessels and structures both for studying the marine continental shelf and for exploring the World Ocean, auxiliary fleet vessels, modern vessels for the protection of aquatic biological resources, special purpose vessels: oil scavengers, non-self-propelled platforms, for example, a floating pumping station the station, etc. All projects of JSC "CTSS" can be implemented at domestic enterprises.
In addition to the serious anniversary date, I would especially like to note that for 30 years now, CTSS JSC has maintained the status of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation, and this indicates a well-deserved recognition of the achievements of the organization at the highest level of government of the country.
Scientific staff of JSC "CTSS" participate in the implementation of state scientific and technical programs to ensure the defense and security of the Russian Federation, conduct research and development for the creation of civil and military marine equipment.
Today, JSC "CTSS" is one of the flagships of the domestic shipbuilding industry, actively developing, growing and honoring its traditions. The accumulated production and scientific experience allow the organization to keep up with the times and remain competitive even in the most difficult conditions.
