It will show on tablets and smartphones the contamination of the area with explosive objects

The application "Minefield Manager" (MMP) is being developed in Russia. It can be downloaded to a regular tablet or smartphone. The novelty will allow soldiers and commanders on the front line to see the location of detected minefields and areas littered with explosive objects in real time. Experts note that the application will seriously facilitate the work of combat and sapper units, and will also be useful to the sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and companies engaged in humanitarian demining.

In real time

The "Minefield Manager" will allow fighters to see on tablets or smartphones the current mine situation and the contamination of the area with explosive objects in a particular area. The application can be installed on gadgets with the Android operating system (OS), and in the future — with the domestic Aurora OS.

— Fighters on the front line will be able to mark the discovered minefield or a separate land mine, another explosive object themselves, — Vladimir Orlov, General Director of the NGO Dvina developer company, told Izvestia. — For this purpose, a set of special markers has been developed that allow marking mines of different types. That is, the commander or fighter can put the boundaries of the minefield on the tablet, specify the types of mines installed there. This will help the units following, as well as the sappers who will be responsible for clearing the area. In addition, it is also possible to mark a particular area as safe or cleared.

Moreover, this information will be updated for all MMP users in real time.

The coverage of the MMP is not limited to any area or region - in the future, military personnel with appropriate access can view the mine situation anywhere in the world.

The program allows the user to use satellites and maps of the General Staff, detailed diagrams and terrain plans, including 3D models. Map layers can be easily changed using the control panel.

The program can support the exchange of information in the most difficult front-line situation when operating enemy electronic warfare systems. For example, with the help of domestic individual radio stations "Azart", which allow you to create peer-to-peer data transmission networks.

According to the developers, the MMP will become a separate information module of the "Awareness Raising Complex" (KPO-A) already developed by NGO Dvina. It allows you to see your own and the enemy's forces on the ground anywhere in the world.

The integration of the "Minefield Manager" into KPO-A will expand its capabilities.

— Special KPO-A chats will help the commanders of neighboring units or fighters to share information directly, — said Vladimir Orlov. — Send photos of landmarks on the ground, pay attention to the features of minefields — for example, indicate that booby traps were used during mining, give advice on how to neutralize them. This will improve the horizontal connection in the waxes.

The awareness-raising complex is protected from hacking. He received several degrees of protection. The simplest one is that the tablet, like any other gadget, receives an individual code, so an outsider will not be able to enter there. It is also possible to create a kind of "digital fence" protecting the device. Relatively speaking, all data on the tablet will be automatically destroyed when crossing a certain coordinate grid. Other ways of protecting information have also been applied.

Better than on paper

The new application will facilitate the work of combat and sapper units on the front line and in the rear areas, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.

— Such a development has been asking for a long time, — says Yuri Lyamin. — There is a high density of minefields in the area of the special operation, almost the entire area in the battlefields is littered with explosive objects to one degree or another. Moreover, the situation is constantly changing. At the most unexpected moment, the enemy can set up a minefield with the help of drones and information about this should be brought to the units operating in this direction as soon as possible. Paper maps quickly become outdated, they cannot be immediately supplemented and sent to the necessary parts. As a result, units and fighters who are unaware of the changing situation will stumble into minefields. The new program will help to avoid this by bringing information to the military in real time. In the end, it will save lives.

Yuri Lyamin noted that good awareness will reduce the number of losses among not only the advanced, but also the rear units engaged in supply.

"In addition, it is important to provide the program with an encryption system so that the enemy cannot hack it and change the maps, for example, in order to lure our troops to minefields," he said. — It is important to think over the system of protection and access. But I'm sure the developers are aware of this and are taking all necessary measures.

The program will make life easier for specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and humanitarian demining working in areas where there was fighting, Yuri Lyamin believes.

— For them, it will be necessary to restrict access rights in order to avoid undesirable dissemination of information, — the expert noted. — This will not interfere with their work, since such detachments are responsible for clearing specific neighborhoods, roads or areas of the area. A limited number of civilian sappers will need to be allowed to access data on these areas. Moreover, it is easier to do this on electronic media than on paper cards.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that in the Luhansk People's Republic, the first private engineering company started clearing the territory of mines and unexploded ordnance. In their arsenal, among other things, there is a special copter with magnetometers that helps to find mines from the air, as well as robotic "tractors". It is assumed that the company will clear 20 hectares of forest. Then the sappers will move to the DPR, where they will be entrusted with the clearance of another site.
