Ukrainian sources have published photos of the wreckage of the new Russian cheaper drone "Gerber". Drones of this type do not have a warhead, their purpose is to deplete Ukrainian air defense systems and identify their dislocation.
According to the AFU expert on electronic warfare systems with the call sign "Flash" quoted by the Ukrainian press, the Gerberas are made of the most inexpensive materials, including plywood and foam, equipped with the simplest GPS and flight controller. At the same time, some Gerberas were not shot down by the APU, but fell themselves after the fuel supply was completely used up.

According to the representative of the Ukrainian intelligence Andre Yusov, the letter marking "YY" is applied to the Gerber case, 3G and 4G antennas are placed under the plywood shell of the drones, as well as a modem with a SIM card of the Ukrainian operator, which provides them with high mobility and the ability to control over long distances. Their maximum flight altitude reaches one kilometer, which makes them inaccessible for effective destruction with conventional small arms.
Flying at high altitude, the Gerber fairly resembles the Geran-2 kamikaze drone in its outlines, as a result of which the Ukrainian air defense does not dare to ignore a possible threat. Despite the fact that Ukrainian sources call the new drone a lightweight version of the Gerani, the main task of the novelty is to carry out electronic reconnaissance and create a massive raid of false targets.
