One of the discoveries of the special military operation was the Russian Lancet barrage ammunition. It is a reliable and accurate weapon that hits important targets in tactical depth. According to fighters using this technique today, 90% of attacks end with an accurate hit. The calculation of the Primorsky artillery unit of the Vostok group told Izvestia about their combat work and how they recently managed to destroy the enemy Bogdan self-propelled artillery installation.

The most difficult targets are tanks

According to the commander of the UAV platoon with the call sign Phoenix, the priority task of his unit is counter—battery warfare. But, in addition, drones also hit armored vehicles, and with luck they work out using air defense systems.

The commander explains the success of the unit quite simply.

— Let's say the operator detects the target, passes it to the technicians, and the team goes to the exit. Well-coordinated work allows you to prepare the "Lancet" in 10 minutes. This is the total time for deployment and launch," the officer explains, clarifying that the scout operator is watching the target, and the operator of the attack UAV is leading the barrage ammunition to the target.

The most difficult targets for the Lancets are moving ones. Especially tanks. Due to the powerful booking, it is necessary to enter it from the right angles.

— We mainly try to hit the rear part of it, namely the engine. This place has the weakest armor. Once, the enemy's T-72 was set on fire, which was at a decent speed at that moment. It was a very cool job," the specialist does not hide his delight.

At the same time, he notes that the enemy does not behave passively and takes certain actions. It masks positions better, especially in the summer. Compared to last year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to have new means of electronic warfare. The number of UAVs used by the enemy has also increased.

"But it's hard to hide from us. Almost impossible. We find them anyway and hit them," the commander states.

The peculiarity of the barrage ammunition is its sensitivity to wind. The Lancet always enters the target against the wind, the operator selects a certain angle of attack. All this is at a very long range. This allows you to conduct counter-battery work on targets located deep behind enemy lines.

There is no fundamental difference between the goals of Soviet production and NATO production for operators. All this must be destroyed, and they are doing it.

— We hit a towed 777 howitzer. Recently, the Bogdan self-propelled gun, converted to the NATO 155 mm caliber, was destroyed. In principle, we worked on them as usual. The only thing is that they were looking for Bogdan longer," Phoenix said.

Speaking about other features of the barrage ammunition, he answered the question of why the Lancet has X-shaped wings.

— This design allows you to instantly turn the projectile in any direction and enter the target from any angle, even 90 degrees. There are some targets that are located deep in the forest belt and cannot be reached from the side. So we hit them at an angle of 90 degrees. It's almost like a ballistic missile turns out," the officer notes.

Bogdana — find and destroy

The deputy platoon commander with the call sign Karat told how he and his colleagues searched for and destroyed the enemy self-propelled gun Bogdan.

— The scouts opened the Bogdana position, after which a preemptive strike was launched by the Hyacinth-S self-propelled gun, the enemy gun was immobilized. After that, our calculation accurately hit the target. The Bogdan self-propelled gun was completely burned out. We've been tracking her for two months. And now they have finally found it. This is our small but important victory," recalls Karat.

In conversation, he draws attention to the fact that for the enemy, the name "Lancet" has become something that inspires horror.

— The Lancet has become a legend of its own, it still remains for the enemy the threat from which there is no escape. He is invulnerable. All attempts to destroy him are futile, because everything is arranged so that he will go further. The speed is high. When approaching the target, it is over 100 km/h. It flies at low altitudes so that it is inaccessible to enemy air defenses. By the way, it makes a very scary sound during the flight," the specialist notes.

According to him, enemy electronic warfare systems cannot counteract our powerful weapons either:

— There is an artificial intelligence in the Lancet, which will do all the work for the operator. It doesn't matter if the goal is static or dynamic. It will be attacked anyway," insists Karat, who has been on a special military operation since its very beginning. From the first days I was a driver. Then he underwent special training and was sent to the appropriate units.

— I like this kind of work. Yes, it involves a risk to life, but it's worth it. The enemy is hiding somewhere out there and is afraid of you. We are also moving forward due to our work. The enemy surrenders. He looks demoralized. We have mastered their tactics and beat the enemy with skill," the soldier concludes.

The hunt for the Lancet operator

The UAV operator with the call sign Suetologist compared the control process of the Lancet to a computer game: laptop, keyboard, mouse.

— We see the goal, we lead it to the end, we hit it. The enemy's electronic warfare systems practically do not interfere with us. Even if my participation has disappeared. This happens sometimes, when the repeater is turned off, the artificial intelligence will finish the job on its own. At the same time, we still prefer to finish the work on our own. It's an irreplaceable experience," he says.

The vanity expert recalls that a large price was set for the head of the Lancet operator in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

— They are trying to hit us with HIMARS. But we are in constant motion. The fact that they are fiercely afraid of us gives us an incentive to fight on. This strike scout has become a total threat to the enemy," the specialist notes,

He also talked about some of the subtleties of his work. Adjusted for weather conditions, the calculation knows exactly the right place at the target, where to get to.

— Our job is not only to manage the Lancets. We are in the sky 24/7. We are correcting artillery, infantry offensive and equipment. The picture quality is perfect, and no matter how the enemy disguises himself, we will still find him. We're just waiting for the right moment," explained the Hustler.

According to him, the Lancet does not fly in the free hunter mode. The calculation always works according to a specific task, an exact goal.

— Within a week, we destroy from five to seven large targets. 90% are accurate hits. I will not dissemble, there are mistakes. But this is rather an exception. And even if the projectile does not hit the target exactly, it is hit by a shock wave and "lighters". That is, it burns anyway," concluded the Vanity expert.

This ended our conversation with the calculation of the Lancet barrage ammunition. The guys are laconic. Because there is a lot of work and little time for conversations. They quickly left the place of our conversation.

Earlier, Izvestia showed the combat work of the Lancets . This is a whole complex, including the Zala reconnaissance UAV, a launcher, control systems and the kamikaze drone itself. The scout Zala accompanies the Lancets: he finds a point, equipment or manpower, captures the coordinates, sends it to the Lancet, corrects it, and defeat occurs. He can also work alone as a scout.
