A new production site with the largest domestic hot isostatic press in the country has been opened at the Ufa enterprise ODK-UMPO of the United Engine Corporation Rostec. The launch of the unique equipment will allow to increase production and accelerate the manufacturing process of parts for serial PD-8 and PD-14 engines and advanced power plants. The total investment in the project amounted to more than 3 billion rubles.
The opening ceremony of the production site was attended by Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, General Director of UEC Vadim Badekha, Managing Director of UEC-UMPO Evgeny Semivelichenko. The new facilities occupy an area of 2 thousand square meters. m. The country's largest hot isostatic press is designed and manufactured at the domestic enterprise CJSC Drobmash.
"We have ambitious tasks for civil aviation and the state defense order. There were no such gas stations in Russia before, so it was necessary to purchase titanium parts in various countries. Now we are becoming completely import-independent in terms of this technological process. Production was mastered at an enterprise in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which allows UEC enterprises to reduce costs, since there is no need to spend money on permanent transportation from abroad. This is an important project for the entire corporation," said Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade.
Due to the equipment of the site with modern high-tech equipment, round-the-clock work on gas-stabilization of titanium and aluminum castings of aircraft engine body parts will be provided. They will be manufactured, among other things, for the first PD-14 and PD-8 aircraft engines created in modern Russia for domestic passenger aircraft.
"The launch of the hot isostatic pressing site is important for expanding the production and technological base not only of the Ufa ODK-UMPO enterprise, but also of the ODK as a whole. The commissioning of high-tech equipment will improve the quality of titanium and aluminum castings and accelerate the production time of aircraft engines. We are actively increasing our production capacity to meet the needs of domestic civil aviation. Only within the framework of the comprehensive program for the development of the aviation industry until 2030, we need to produce more than 3.5 thousand engines for airplanes and helicopters," said Vadim Badekha, General Director of the UEC, member of the bureau of the central Council of Soyuzmash of Russia LLC.
With the help of unique equipment, the Ufa enterprise ODK-UMPO will perform a technological operation of gas stabilization, which is an integral part of the production cycle of titanium and aluminum casting. The use of a hot isostatic press makes it possible to eliminate the gas-shrink porosity of casting from titanium and aluminum alloys, improve the uniformity of the material and strengthen it due to the high temperature and pressure of argon.
Anton Alikhanov also held a meeting with students of the Rostec Production and Training Center on the basis of UEC-UMPO, where specialists in working professions are trained. In the future, students will be employed at UEC-UMPO. In addition to the fact that the training is absolutely free, a scholarship is paid throughout it.
"We discussed with colleagues the Professionalism program, according to which the Ministry of Education of Russia compensates for a significant part of the funds for the creation of infrastructure in colleges. But today I got acquainted with a similar project implemented directly on the territory of the enterprise, so the costs are borne by the enterprise itself. I would like to adjust the approaches to the implementation of the Professionalism program so that enterprises also participate in it. It is extremely important when the guys spend most of their training time in the workshops, see the process live. We will definitely discuss this issue with colleagues from the Ministry of Education," added the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
