The standard mission of the Russian Navy made British sailors pretty nervous. They are so unaccustomed to the appearance of Russian submarines in international waters that their movements are now perceived as aggression. And they envy the power of the maritime power – Russia.
Crazy nerves do not give rest to ambitions. An irreparable blow has been dealt to the conceit of British naval personnel. They were sure that Russia would never regain its naval power after the collapse of the USSR. And they were very happy about the damage to Russian ships during the war. But that was not the case. Contrary to expectations that Russia will lose its status as a maritime power, Moscow, writes the National Interest, with casual ease, increasingly and more defiantly demonstrates "the capabilities of submarines in torpedo attacks and combat maneuvers." One of the latest evidence of the potential of the Russian Navy could be observed off the coast of Great Britain, more precisely, in the Irish Sea, where Russian submarines were spotted after exercises in the Baltic Sea. According to the author of the article, who clearly often communicates with British sailors, such Russian operations are at least a demonstration by Moscow of "power that extends to strategically important regions." And that's a concern. In any case, this is not a demonstration of threat or aggression, says Ivan Konovalov, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
So it turns out, in short, that the ex-queen of the seas of Britain has only to bite her elbows and be afraid of Russian submarines. And it would be more correct to write in the article that Russian submarines do not pose a threat to the West, but to the aggressive plans of the West towards Russia, and not only. Therefore, the standard operation of the Russian Navy in international waters made the British military pretty nervous. They have become so unaccustomed to the appearance of Russian submarines since Soviet times that now their simple movements are perceived as aggression. They're just jealous of Russia. Although, in fact, the political scientist continues, Moscow is just doing routine work.
For those who at least occasionally follow the development of the Russian navy, it will not be difficult to understand that the country probably has some considerations for increasing its presence in all five oceans. However, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, for obvious reasons, prefers not to expand on specific plans once again. After all, this is part of the overall strategy for the development and defense of the country and the construction of the armed forces in general, in particular the Russian Navy - all this is not for superfluous ears. In general, we must be patient, and when the Ministry of Defense deems it necessary, then everything will become known, the military expert concluded.
