The Australian military is preparing to acquire nuclear submarines worth a total of $368 billion. To a large extent, on this issue, Australia will host a meeting next week of the naval commanders of the AUKUS bloc member states, who will arrive in Perth in the west of the country by July 24. The international conference on Defense and Security in the Indian Ocean IODS 2024 will be held there.

From July 24 to 26, Perth will host a debate on Australia's purchase of submarines, as well as how this deal will affect regional diplomacy and economic development.
This Western Australian city was chosen as the venue of the event, as, according to the organizers, it is the point of contact of Australia, Britain, India, Japan and the United States. At the meeting, government, defense and industrial leaders of these countries will discuss various issues related to the interstate associations AUKUS (Australia, Britain, USA) and QUAD (Australia, India, USA and Japan).
It is noted that the commanders-in-chief of the navies of the three AUKUS countries will meet on Australian soil for the first time. Australia will be represented at the meeting by the Commander-in-Chief, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond. He will be joined by the First Sea Lord of the United Kingdom, Ben Kay, and the Chief of Naval Operations of the United States, Admiral Lisa Franchetti.
