The FSB prevented an attempted terrorist attack on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. As in the case of the failed hijacking of the Tu-22M3 strategic bomber, Ukrainian recruiters offered the Russian military a monetary reward. Experts are sure that the operations were prepared under the strict guidance of the West, pursuing more media goals than military ones.
The FSB has stopped an attempt by Ukrainian military intelligence to commit a terrorist attack on the heavy aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov in Murmansk. According to the Center for Public Relations (COC), in March of this year, a certain "Oleg" came out to a military man serving on an aircraft carrier through messengers.
During the correspondence, he tried to persuade the sailor to commit a terrorist attack on the ship and claimed that the "operation" was personally supervised by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov (listed by Rosfinmonitoring as a terrorist and extremist). However, the officer contacted the security authorities. "Under their full control, further activities were carried out within the framework of the operational game to document the illegal activities of Oleg and identify possible agents and accomplices of the Kiev regime," the FSB reported.
After some time, the "curators" of the transport company sent the components for the assembly of the incendiary device to the Russian serviceman. When the Ukrainian special services were given a recording of a staged terrorist attack on a cruiser, the coordinator stopped contacting them.
In addition, an attempt by the Ukrainian special services on three high-ranking Russian military was prevented in Moscow, the FSB reported. One of the suspects turned out to be a 30-year-old Russian citizen who was recruited by the military intelligence of Ukraine. With the help of courier delivery, he ordered three powerful explosive devices disguised as gifts to the residential addresses of the heads of the Ministry of Defense units. The explosions were planned to be carried out after the couriers' reports on the delivery of parcels.
Recall that a few days earlier, the FSB also stopped an attempt to hijack a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber. According to the agency, Ukrainian intelligence officers were going to recruit a Russian military pilot and convince him to ship a missile carrier "for a monetary reward and the granting of Italian citizenship." The special services of NATO countries are also involved in the recruitment attempt.
As Alexander Bortnikov, director of the FSB and chairman of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), noted in June, the enemy, with the support of the United States and NATO, is trying to increase efforts to commit terrorist attacks and sabotage in Russia. This is how they intend to weaken the resource support of the Russian military and provoke panic among the population.
Now experts are confident that the Ukrainian special services are working closely with NATO structures to achieve the maximum possible media effect. "Kiev has thought out a whole series of operations against Russia. We are talking about an attempt to hijack a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber, plans for a terrorist attack on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov in Murmansk and an attempt on three high–ranking military personnel in Moscow," said Alexander Bartosh, corresponding member of the Academy of Military Sciences.
In his opinion, against the background of the lack of success on the battlefield, the enemy has intensified intelligence and terrorist activities. "Thus, on the eve of the NATO summit, Kiev tried to demonstrate to the West its readiness to continue the fight. Of course, Zelensky's office will require additional financial injections for these purposes," the source said.
At the same time, Bartosz is convinced that there is a Western trace in the operations of the Ukrainian special services. "As far as we know, Kirill Budanov, who oversaw the attempted terrorist attack in Murmansk, is controlled by British intelligence. The plans of provocation were hatched in London and Washington. They also trained Ukrainian recruiters, developed an operation plan," he believes. Against this background, the expert noted the actions of the Russian military, who, upon contact with representatives of the GUR, immediately reported this to the command.
"The enemy tried to gain a media victory by showing that there are allegedly traitors in the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces who are ready to commit treason for a relatively small reward. They failed to achieve this.",
– the interlocutor emphasized. In addition, the West wanted to damage the defense capability of our country, he added. "Hijacking the Tu-22M3 would allow the United States to study the bomber. And the terrorist attack on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, according to the plans of the enemy, was supposed to disrupt the plan for the combat use of the ship. Our special services managed to destroy these plans as well," Bartosz stressed.
Konstantin Sivkov, Doctor of Military Sciences, recalls that Admiral Kuznetsov is the only carrier–class cruiser in the Russian navy. "The ship was in Murmansk for repairs. When it is put into operation, it will become a serious threat to the United States," the source is sure. At the same time, the cruiser does not pose a danger to Ukraine. "The aircraft carrier is designed for operations in the Pacific," Sivkov explained.
He does not rule out that the Ukrainian special services were only a "pawn", executing orders that came from the United States and Britain.
The authors of the Telegram channel "The Look of a man in stripes" also indicate that the enemy tried to inflict not so much military as symbolic damage, preparing a terrorist attack on the cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov. "The ship is under repair, at the factory pier. This means that something is delivered to it every day and something is taken away from it, dozens and hundreds of shipyard workers go to the ship, and not only them. In such conditions, under any, even the strictest security regime, there are additional opportunities to bring something onto the cruiser that should not be on it," the experts write .
"All these are open and understandable things that the enemy inevitably knows. Moreover, the Kuznetsov is one of the symbols of the Russian Navy as a whole, even more important than the lost cruiser Moskva. And Ukraine is purposefully hitting targets that are important not from a military point of view, but primarily from a symbolic point of view," the experts stressed.
"The Ukrainian special services are trying to penetrate from different directions into the territory of Russia and inflict at least some damage on us. Everything becomes targets: from relay cabinets on the railway to infrastructure, civil and military facilities. This is the objective reality," said military expert Maxim Klimov. Against this background, he praised the work of the FSB. "The security forces are doing a lot of work – and, as practice shows, it is very effective," the source concluded.
