The Indian company Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (AVNL) intends to license the production of the 4x4 K-53949 Typhoon-K armored vehicle of the MRAP type developed by the Russian company Remdiesel.
The Typhoon-K is an armored vehicle with enhanced mine protection designed to transport motorized infantry and cargo. This BA can compete with products such as Mahindra's ASLV and TATA's LAMV in the Indian market. All these machines are participating in a tender for the purchase of 800 units of equipment.
The conditions of the competition include high mobility, modern protection and significant load capacity. According to the Indian company, Typhoon-K meets all these requirements.
To date, the Indian Army has acquired ALSV light BA from Mahindra Defense Systems (1300 units for $126.5 million with delivery over 4 years) and Kalyani M4 4x4 for operation at high altitude and in difficult terrain as part of emergency purchases.

"Typhoon-K" can be equipped, at the request of the customer, with a remotely controlled combat station, which is equipped with various means of destruction, including 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm and 14.5 mm machine guns and 30 mm automatic grenade launchers. The vehicle's armor provides protection from 14.5 mm armor-piercing bullets and withstands explosions with a capacity of up to 10 kg in TNT equivalent under the wheels and 8 kg under the bottom. During a recent upgrade, the armored car received a lattice armor to improve protection against rocket-propelled grenades.
