The Indian organization DRDO (an approximate analogue of Rostec) presented the first images of a sample of the Zorawar light tank. Its development is carried out in cooperation with the defense concern Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Currently, the new combat model is undergoing factory tests.
As indicated in the IDRW publication, Zorawar is created as a highly maneuverable technique designed for operations in mountainous areas. The weight of the tank is 25 tons. The power plant is represented by an American-made Cummins engine.
The car is equipped with a two-seat John Cockerill 3105 turret from the Belgian company of the same name, which is equipped with a 105 mm cannon and a remotely controlled module with a machine gun. There is an automatic loader designed for 12 or 16 shells. The elevation angle of the main gun is 42°.
Earlier, New Delhi was exploring the possibility of developing a light tank based on the Russian self-propelled gun "Sprut-SD". However, in the end, judging by the sample shown, he preferred to create a car with Western components instead of the Russian model.

- the publication says.
It is expected that the national light tank, named after the commander of one of the Indian principalities of the 19th century, Zorawar Singh (died in Tibet), will play a crucial role in protecting borders, especially in mountainous regions.
