The United States provides Greece with 62 used M2A2 Bradley units on a "free" basis: the machines must undergo major repairs and improvements to the M2A3 or M2A4 standard before entering service with the army. Washington transfers another 102 M2A2 copies for a small fee.
- says the SavunmaSanayiST publication.
As indicated, the Greek delegation visited the United States to inspect the "donated" equipment, familiarize itself with the modernization packages and discuss the details of the work, that is, in fact, to negotiate the purchase of armored vehicles.
It is noted that Bradley's deliveries to Greece caused an angry reaction in Ukraine, where they are forced to use cars to fight Russian troops.
As indicated in the Greek edition of Ptnon, Athens requested from Washington 300 copies of M2A2 under the EDA procedure (as a decommissioned match) and 500 as part of a commercial transaction. These 800 vehicles should take the place of outdated American M113 armored personnel carriers in mechanized combat formations.

- explained in the Greek press.
According to the author, in parallel with the negotiations that are underway with Washington, Berlin is trying to impose the Lynx BMP on Athens, but the command and authorities are not satisfied with their high cost. The same applies to the Swedish CV90. The purchase of cheaper used equipment in Europe, such as the Marder BMP, is impractical, since "its stock is decreasing due to supplies to Ukraine."
As noted, the United States proposes to upgrade 800 M2A2 to M2A4 at Greek production facilities, while half of the machines from this number should be transferred to Ukraine. The remaining 400 units in Athens will cost the budget € 3-5 million per copy: such a high price provides for full equipment of the IFV and the installation of a "self-defense system" (probably referring to the installation of the BRAT DZ).
