The Franco-German conglomerate KNDS demonstrated the innovative EMBT-ADT 140 MBT equipped with a new 140 mm ASCALON cannon at the Paris Eurosatory 2024 exhibition, revealing a number of characteristics of the equipment. This machine was presented by the developer as a "new generation tank".
The program for the creation of the E-MBT ("European main battle tank") – the predecessor of the promising European MBT MGCS – was announced in 2018 and is intended to replace the Leclerc and Leopard 2. The new technology is a "hybrid" of these two types of tanks, using the turret of the French MBT and the body of the German machine.

However, in the EMBT-ADT 140 version, the new product received a prototype of the Ascalon remote-controlled turret (ADT 140), armed with a 140/48 mm Ascalon R cannon with an automatic loader and a 22-shot BC. In addition, it is equipped with a paired 20 mm automatic cannon with a 300-round BC, an ARX30 with a 30 mm cannon (150 rounds) and a 7.62mm machine gun (200 rounds).

EMBT-ADT 140 is equipped with replaceable armor, built-in protection against attacks from above, distributed KAZ of 22 PU for full hemispherical protection.
The tank, equipped with a power unit with a capacity of 1100 kW (1500 hp), develops a road speed of 65 km / h with a range of over 450 km; ground clearance is 450 mm.
In May 2024, KNDS successfully tested the new 140 mm Ascalon cannon at the proving ground. Its distinctive feature is its modularity: within an hour, the 120 mm barrel can be replaced with 140 mm. The first tests of the tower with a 140 mm cannon are planned to be carried out in 2025.
