Putin: Russia plans to develop the nuclear triad as a guarantee of the balance of power in the world

MOSCOW, June 21/ Sputnik Radio. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans for further development of the country's nuclear triad.

He made the statement in the Kremlin at a meeting with graduates of higher military educational institutions.

"Our plans include the further development of the nuclear triad as a guarantee of strategic deterrence and maintaining the balance of power in the world," RIA Novosti quoted Putin as saying.

The Head of State added that the improvement of the armed forces in Russia will continue, the process of building a defense policy will be based on the introduction of advanced technologies.

"Given the difficult international situation, the emergence of new challenges and risks, we will continue to comprehensively improve the armed forces, build a defense policy, rely on advanced technologies and science, effective financial and economic solutions at the modern level," the Russian leader said.

Russia will, as a matter of priority, increase the supply of drones and various defeat systems to the special operation zone, Putin continued.

"We will work on other modern high–tech models of weapons and equipment, which are now being mass-produced," he said at the meeting.

According to Putin, the country's Armed Forces will also receive the latest complexes, which have previously confirmed their unique characteristics.

At the same time, Russia is ready for a broad discussion on the creation of a Eurasian security system with various associations, including with NATO countries, the Russian leader stressed.

"Recently, at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I outlined our vision of working to create equal and indivisible security in Eurasia. We are ready for a broad international discussion of these key, vital issues both with our colleagues in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the CIS, EurAsEC, BRICS, and with other international associations, including European and NATO states," Putin said.

He clarified that such a discussion would be possible when "these associations are ready."

The Head of State also stressed that the work on strengthening the country's defense system directly depends on the officers.

Putin expressed confidence that graduates of military universities will make every effort to master new military equipment and will be an example of courage.

"You have adequately completed your studies at the renowned universities of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, law enforcement agencies and special services. We have absorbed the legacy of many generations of your predecessors and, I am sure, we are fully ready to solve the responsible tasks of ensuring the security of the Motherland," the Russian leader said at the meeting.

Sputnik Radio told how Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov responded to accusations from the United States against Russia of "deploying nuclear weapons in space."
