The Polish Ministry of Defense has approved the purchase of Rosomak armored vehicles with locally produced ZSSW-30 turrets. The combat module is the most important equipment: it accounts for half of the cost of equipment.
The corresponding contract is planned to be signed in the near future. As explained in the military department, in 2024 it is planned to purchase 58 Rosomak in standard configuration and 174 units in the Rosomak-L modification. At the same time, both versions will receive the ZSSW-30.
To date, 70 previously manufactured Rosomak have been equipped with ZSSW-30. Now their fleet will expand significantly.
The ZSSW-30 has been developed since 2013 by Huta Stalowa Wola and WB Electronics. The first order for them was placed by the Ministry of Defense in 2022. In addition to the Rosomak APC, this combat module is being armed with the Borsuk BMP. The tower is uninhabited; all mechanisms and key elements are hidden under an armored shield. This design increases its weight, but at the same time effectively protects sensitive devices.

Despite the fact that the tower is remotely controlled, the crew has access to it, which allows the fighters, without sticking out from under the armor, to replenish ammunition, cope with jamming, make minor repairs or, in case of damage to the tower engine or loss of power, manually control the weapons.
The ZSSW-30 is equipped with a stabilized 30 mm Mk 44 S Bushmaster II cannon with dual-channel power supply, which allows you to choose the type of ammunition used; a UKM-2000C 7.62 x 51 mm machine gun and two Spike-LR/LR2 ATGM ready to fire (two more are transported inside the car); an automated SLA with the ability to track targets and issue targeting of third-party weapons, such as other vehicles; two optoelectronic GOD-1 Iris (command) and GOC-1 Nike (sighting) heads; communication systems; weather station; Polish SSP-1 Obra-3 self-defense system [detects laser radiation and puts smoke screens].

Before switching to the ZSSW-30, Poland armed its Rosomak armored personnel carriers with licensed Hitfist-30P manned turrets [from the Italian company Oto Melara]. As indicated in the WP Tech publication, the ZSSW-30 turned out to be lighter and stronger, which will allow it to be reinforced with additional booking.
