MO: calculations of the "Bastions" of the Black Sea Fleet hit the ground facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The "bastions" of the Black Sea Fleet hit the ground targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were discovered during combat duty, the Russian Defense Ministry said. What is known about these coastal missile systems and their main weapon, which the enemy cannot counteract, - says the military observer of the Newspaper.En" Mikhail Khodarenok.
Calculations of the Bastion coastal missile systems of the Black Sea Fleet during combat duty struck at identified AFU facilities on the territory of Ukraine. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Apparently, units of the 15th separate coastal missile brigade of the Black Sea Fleet with a location in Sevastopol took part in the strike. This unit belongs to the Coastal Forces, a kind of naval forces.
The brigade includes divisions with 3K60 Bal missile systems with the X-35 anti-ship missile, K300P Bastion-P with the unified supersonic homing anti-ship cruise missile Yakhont (Onyx). To this is added the coastal mine-based anti-ship complex "Utes" with P-35B and 3M44 Progress cruise missiles, as well as 130 mm coastal self-propelled guns A-222 "Bereg".
The Bastion-P coastal missile system (DBK) was developed by the NGO (Scientific and Production Association) of Mechanical Engineering (the city of Reutov). The system was adopted in 2010 and has become one of the main elements of the echeloned coastal defense of the Russian Federation.
What does the Bastion consist of?
Bastion is designed to destroy surface ships of various classes and types from amphibious formations, convoys, ship and aircraft carrier strike groups, as well as single ships and ground-based radio-contrast targets in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures.
The Bastion-P complex includes:
- P-800 Onyx anti-ship missile/"Yakhont" in a transport and launch container;
- self-propelled launchers;
- combat control vehicle;
- equipment for information and technical interface of DBK combat vehicles with the head command post;
- automated combat control system of the DBK;
- transport and charging machines;
- combat duty support vehicles and a number of other systems.
The standard composition of the K-300 Bastion-P division: four self-propelled launchers with two transport and launch containers for Yakhont missiles (crew of three); 1-2 combat control vehicles (DBK (crew of five); one combat duty support vehicle and four transport and loading vehicles. The maximum ammunition of the complex is 24 anti-ship missiles.
The main characteristics of the complex:
• range of destruction - up to 300 km (with Onyx missiles);
• the maximum distance of the launcher from the shore is 200 km;
• deployment from the field to the combat position - up to 5 minutes.
Almost the entire Black Sea is located in the zone of destruction of missile and artillery complexes of the Black Sea Coastal Forces.
The main weapon of Bastion is the P-800 Onyx missile (export name - Yakhont). It is a universal supersonic anti-ship missile of medium range. The maximum speed is almost 900 m/sec. The length of the rocket is 8 meters, and the launch weight is 3 tons.
What is known about the Bastion's main weapon
The firing range of the Onyx is 300 km, and the Onyx-M is already up to 800 km. The flight height of the product in the final section of the trajectory is 10-15 meters. The mass of the missile's warhead is 300 kg.
The supersonic speed of the Onyx significantly complicates the defeat of the product by anti-aircraft missile systems and enemy complexes.
As for the combat use of the Bastion-P missile defense system during a special military operation, on March 18, 2022, the calculations of the complex took part in strikes against AFU targets for the first time. On the night of May 9, missiles hit an airfield near the settlement of Artsyz in the Odessa region. As a result of the strike, six Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters were destroyed. On June 20, the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aircraft complex was destroyed at the same airfield. Anti-ship missiles hit the control station and two UAVs.
On June 24, Onyx missiles destroyed the launch site of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in the Odessa region. In the first two months alone, the DBK calculations used up several dozen P-800 Onyx missiles and successfully hit a large number of enemy targets. The last time "Bastions", according to confirmed data, were involved in shelling objects on the territory of Ukraine (near Odessa and Ilyichevsk, Odessa region) on the night of July 19-20, 2023.
