The Turkish army receives batches of upgraded ZMA-15 Zırhlı infantry fighting vehicles. In total, 133 units of equipment were purchased as part of the first order.
The basic vehicle for the ZMA-15 Zırhlı BMP is the ACV-15 AAPC armored personnel carrier, created on the basis of the American M113 armored personnel carrier and produced since 1992 by FNSS Defense Systems. In total, about 2.7 thousand units were produced. The main armament is represented by a 12.7mm M2 machine gun placed in a swivel turret or an open turret. The armor protects the crew from 14.5 mm bullets. The crew consists of three people, and the landing party can include 8-10 soldiers. The power plant is represented by a Detroit 6V-53T diesel engine with a capacity of 300 hp and an X-200-4 transmission. It allows you to accelerate a car weighing about 14 tons to a speed of 65 km / h on the highway and 6 km / h when overcoming water obstacles by swimming.
A distinctive feature of the ongoing modernization of the ACV-15 APC to the level of the ZMA-15 Zırhlı BMP is the installation of an uninhabited Turkish-made Nefer combat module armed with a 25 mm M242 cannon and a 7.62mm machine gun paired with it. The ballistic protection of the tower corresponds to level 2 according to STANAG 4569 (withstands an armor-piercing incendiary bullet of 7.62 x 39 mm from a distance of 30 m). The new tower is equipped, among other things, with a digital SLA, which provides the ability to automatically track a target; the gunner has surveillance and aiming devices with a daytime and IR channel, a laser rangefinder at his disposal.

The ZMA-15 is equipped with a laser beam warning system and a 360° camera system around the machine. It is planned to install fire protection, air conditioning and heating systems. In addition, the armor of the vehicle and its mine resistance had to be improved (it should withstand 8 kg of explosives).
- they say in the FNSS company that performs the work.
Deliveries of the improved ACV-15 are scheduled to be completed this year, although it is possible that a contract will be signed for the modernization of subsequent machines.
