The autonomous platform can carry up to 40 kg of cargo, has a variable undercarriage and communication systems

Russian developers have created an autonomous mobile platform capable of performing a variety of tasks on the line of contact. It can be used for cargo delivery, when deploying a field cable and a network of repeaters, as well as as a kamikaze drone. Depending on the situation, the device can move both on wheels and on tracks — both are included in the kit. One of the features of the drone is an additional fiber—optic control channel, which makes the machine resistant to the effects of electronic warfare. In the context of the CBO, such autonomous platforms have become necessary, experts say.

It carries twice its own weight

The universal mobile platform was created according to the principle of the designer — it can be adapted to certain functions.

— In particular, it is possible to deploy a communication system in its complete absence, not only in the combat zone, but also in the rear. The platform can also be used as a means of destruction as a kamikaze drone, sending it to destroy the selected target, " a representative of the A-Systems developer company told Izvestia.

The weight of the product is about 20 kg, while it can carry up to 40 kg. This allows you to carry ammunition capable of destroying an enemy stronghold or other ground target. Another possible task of the platform is mine clearance.

— Now there are a huge number of territories where mines, tripwires and some unexploded shells remain, and mine clearance takes years. This process takes a lot of resources and time. One of the solutions is technical demining using unmanned systems. Our platform will allow you to perform tasks in this area," explained the representative of the developer.

Communication channels

Such platforms are needed because in conditions of high saturation of UAVs, a significant part of the losses fall on the machines that deliver goods, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.

— Over the past ten years, such devices have been used only in experimental cases, only to practice the actions of such platforms. And now we have a situation where we cannot delay their development, with the launch of production, because it endangers the lives of our soldiers. Saturation of troops with a large number of automated platforms should significantly reduce losses," he noted.

There are certain questions about the technical appearance of the device. And it is not entirely clear whether the developers will be able to solve them, believes Alexey Krot, an ex-employee of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

— So, they have declared fiber optic in their communication system. This is a very thin cable, literally a little thinner than a thread. On the one hand, this is good, but on the other hand, it is very brittle, and if a projectile hits nearby, it can be interrupted, and then the connection will be lost. But there is a duplicated radio control system. The platform will also be able to slip an anti-tank mine, but an anti-personnel mine will work under it. And this moment, of course, needs to be thought about somehow," he explained.

Every day is a new solution

The development of the device lasted for quite a long period of time and continues to this day, the company said. In the near future, the manufacturer plans to integrate artificial intelligence into its platform.

— If there is no connection somewhere or something has happened and the operator cannot send the task, press the button, then with the help of AI, the machine, depending on the input data, will decide for itself what to do, - said the representative of the developer.

The introduction of artificial intelligence into military equipment is certainly a promising direction, Alexey Krot told Izvestia.

— In particular, a drone has arrived, you don't know whose it is. And you're just wasting your time trying to figure it out. Artificial intelligence would be able to determine this faster," he gave an example. — The fighter also has a task, in the process of its execution, adrenaline begins to act, the bullets that fly past him turn on the human factor, and somewhere he begins to make mistakes. Unfortunately, this happens. Artificial intelligence is not susceptible to such human weaknesses.

According to a representative of the developer company, there is a technology war going on right now. China, the USA, Europe, and Russia are working to ensure that devices can perform their tasks without an operator.

— If you look very far away, making a forecast for the next five years, I think that there will be a gray zone on the contact line, where nothing flies, does not crawl due to the operation of electronic warfare equipment. The work will be carried out according to information from the satellite, then according to the picture from the UAV, which will give a certain video signal. But again, they will most likely not be on the radio channel, but on another control system," he stressed.

Artificial intelligence will be used in most promising weapons systems, the expert is sure.
