Serbia has recently completed major military maneuvers in which various types of domestic and foreign equipment were used. Among other things, the latest Serbian M-84AS2 tanks were involved in the exercises Vihor 2024 ("Whirlwind-2024").
These combat vehicles of the 2020 model are a deep modernization of the Yugoslavian M-84 tanks. In particular, she is now armed with an improved 125 mm cannon. The tank is also equipped with the latest fire control system, which provides for the use of air-detonated ammunition. Each member of the crew of the car, including the driver, has a modern thermal imager of the 3rd generation. And the commander has the opportunity to use a large-caliber 12.7 mm machine gun mounted on a remote-controlled turret.
The dynamic protection of the Serbian-made ERO-19 reliably protects the tank from cumulative and kinetic ammunition. The developers of the upgraded equipment claim that it is better than the Contact-5 DZ created in the USSR and previously used. In terms of its characteristics, it is in many ways similar to the modern Russian dynamic protection "Relict".
The tank is equipped with an upgraded V46-TK engine, which has a capacity of one thousand horsepower. It is also planned to install a V46TK-1 powerplant with a capacity of 1200 hp on it.
