The Omsktransmash plant, responsible, in particular, for the repair and modernization of tanks of the T-80B/BV family, has prepared another batch of vehicles of this type for transfer to the troops.
Tanks upgraded to the T-80BVM level, among other things, have armor reinforced with DZ Relict modules, although smaller modules of the older Kontakt-1 type are installed on some surfaces of the equipment. The upper hemisphere of the tower is protected by a visor (also with built-in DZ modules) and mesh screens.
The fire control system is being improved. Instead of the old 1A33 "Ob" complex with a day sight with a 1G42 laser rangefinder and a TPN-3-49 night sight, a new SLA with a Sosna-U or PNM-T sight is installed, which have daytime and thermal imaging channels and a laser rangefinder. There is a simple daytime auxiliary sight "Double".
The commander's position has not changed. It is still a simple rotating observation post with a TKN-3M Kristall day and night surveillance device and a ZU-80 combat station with a large-caliber NSVT machine gun, although the commander has a device at his disposal with which he can control the turret system and main armament, as well as a display with viewing an image from an IR channel the sight "Pine-U" or PNM-T.

The tank is equipped with a new 2A46M-4 cannon with a new 2E58 stabilization system. The MBT also receives an upgraded power plant, in which the gas turbine GTD-1000TF with a capacity of 1100 hp is replaced by a more modern GTD-1250 with 1250 hp. Previously, it was installed on the T-80U version. Last year, representatives of the Kaluga Engine Plant announced plans to resume production of engines, including modifications of the GTD-1250, as well as upgraded GTD-1400 and 1500. According to the author, it is difficult to judge whether these plans have been implemented [although during Sergei Shoigu's recent visit to Omsktransmash, an announcement was made about restoring the production of power plants at the Kaluga plant].
- it is noted in the Polish press.
As indicated, Russia still has large reserves of military equipment inherited from the USSR, as well as significant industrial potential capable of mass production of military equipment, which should be a cause for concern.
- the conclusion is made in the publication.
