According to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, on April 18, 2024, in Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod region, JSC Okskaya Shipyard hosted a solemn ceremony of laying the head small marine tanker Argun of the new project 23630 (code "Umba") for the Navy of the Russian Federation with the factory number 2401.
The mortgage board of the head small marine tanker "Argun" of the new project 23630 (code "Umba") laid at JSC "Okskaya Shipyard" in Navashino on 04/18/2024 with factory number 2401 (c) Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation
On behalf of the Russian Navy, the ceremony was attended by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy for Logistics, Major General Alexei Kiyashko. He noted that the laying of a new vessel is of great importance for the Navy's auxiliary fleet, the intensity of which is growing from year to year.
After the construction and testing cycle, the tanker will be transferred to the Navy and will serve in one of the fleets.
The Argun small marine tanker is the lead vessel of Project 23630. According to this project, it is planned to build a series of ships. The first production tanker should be the Yuri Khaliullin tanker, which will be named in honor of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Rear Admiral Yuri Mikhailovich Khaliullin, who made a great contribution to the training of engineers for the Navy and maintaining the technical readiness of Navy ships.
The tanker has a total displacement of more than 4,700 tons with a length of 86 meters. It is capable of floating in ice and can be used for refueling and fresh water ships and vessels at sea, on the roadstead and at the pier. The full speed of the vessel is 12 knots, the cruising range is 2500 miles with an autonomy of 30 days. The ship's crew is 29, the anti-terror group is 8 people.
On the part of bmpd, we point out that the developer of the 23630 small marine tanker project is JSC KB Vimpel (Nizhny Novgorod), which in 2020 received a contract from the Russian Ministry of Defense worth 2 billion rubles for the Umba design Bureau for its design. In 2022, JSC Okskaya Shipyard received a contract for the construction of two tankers of project 23630 for the Russian Navy. Initially, the laying of both vessels was planned to be carried out in Navashino in 2023, but the head tanker Argun is actually laid there only now, the date of laying the second tanker Yuri Khaliullin is still unknown.
In recent years, the Oka shipyard has handed over to the Russian Navy two patrol boats (communication boats) "Sapsan" and "John Kronshtadtsky" of project 21270 (both in 2017) and two large hydrographic boats "Alexander Makorta" (in 2020) and "Anatoly Knyazev" (in 2022) of project 19920. In December 2023, another large hydrographic boat "Alexander Motrokhov" (factory number 3708) of the 19920 project was laid down at the shipyard for the Russian Navy.
