The United Engine Corporation of Rostec State Corporation will soon connect 600 machines to the industrial Internet of Things. Thus, the total IIoT network of the corporation will number more than 2.5 thousand units of industrial equipment, and by 2026 it is planned to increase it to 4 thousand.

The issues of digital transformation of the industry were discussed within the framework of the demo day of the Industrial Competence Center "Engine Building", organized during the International Technology Forum "Innovations. Technologies. Production" in Rybinsk.

UEC's large-scale IIoT project has already made the corporation a leader in the development of the industrial Internet of Things in Russia. It is implemented on the basis of the Russian software and hardware complex "Dispatcher" of the company "Digit". The Dispatcher monitoring system allows you to manage the workload of production and identify the causes of downtime, as well as connects the production equipment of enterprises into a single network. In addition, the system serves as a tool for optimizing technical support and repairs and allows you to monitor the efficiency of not only equipment, but also personnel.

"To date, eight production sites in different regions have been connected to the IIoT in the United Engine Corporation, this is more than 2 thousand machines and other production equipment. This year, we have already connected 73 units of equipment at the Perm-based ODK-Aviadvigatel, and by the end of the second quarter of 2024, additional connection of more than 100 machines at the Samara-based ODK-Kuznetsov is planned. In Ufa, at UEC-UMPO, another 239 machines will be put under the control of the Dispatcher complex, and 67 at UEC-Saturn. Also this year, we will connect a new site to the industrial Internet of Things – 113 units of production equipment will be connected at the Omsk Motor–Building Plant named after P.I. Baranov," Vyacheslav Khristolyubov, Director of Digital Transformation of the UEC, shared his plans.

IIoT networks at the UEC production sites are connected to the central analytical system of the ARM Holding enterprise, thus forming a network on the scale of the entire corporation. The project has been implemented in the UEC since 2017, now six production facilities are already operating with the central BI system, and in the future all production enterprises of the corporation will join it. ARM Holding is the main digital tool for supporting management decision-making. With its help, UEC managers receive up-to-date information on equipment utilization and efficiency at all production sites, as well as analytics on production capacity and the ability to make load forecasts taking into account the tasks of the corporation.

In parallel, UEC is leading the Smart Workshop project, within the framework of which a comprehensive production management system based on the ZIIoT digital platform is being created at UEC-Saturn (also developed by Cifra Group), one of the data providers for which the Dispatcher complex acts.

"The expansion of IIoT connections and the implementation of the Smart Shop project are key steps in building a solid import-independent digital foundation for the corporation. They open up opportunities for us to further automate and intellectualize production, as they discipline work with industrial data and provide tools for the rapid and flexible creation and implementation of new application solutions, including applications based on artificial intelligence," Evgeny Alekseev, Director of Digital Transformation at UEC–Saturn, assessed the importance of the projects.

The ZIIoT implementation project was supported by the Russian Information Technology Development Fund within the framework of the federal Digital Technologies project of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation". The experience of UEC-Saturn can be replicated at other UEC enterprises.

"We see a huge potential to increase the efficiency of the entire machine-building industry through the introduction of industrial Internet of Things technologies. UEC enterprises have proven that due to continuous monitoring of equipment and advanced analytics, it is possible to increase production utilization by up to 40%, minimize unreasonable downtime, switch from planned repairs of equipment to maintenance on operating time and generally improve all key performance indicators. These are the tasks set within the framework of the comprehensive program for the development of the engine industry until 2030, and we are glad that our digital products help in its implementation, while ensuring the import independence of enterprises," said Sergey Yemelchenkov, CEO of Cifra Group.
