The drone will soon be put into mass production, the MiS design bureau reported

MOSCOW, April 8. /tass/. In the special operation zone, a new strike and reconnaissance hexacopter MiS-35 began to be used, which is a hybrid of an FPV drone, Mavika and a Ukrainian agricultural heavyweight drone Baba Yaga. This was reported to TASS by the MIS Design Bureau (KB).

"MiS-35 is already being used in the area of its own. The device combines the advantages of the FPV drone, Mavika and Baba Yaga. Currently, we are expanding the supply area, as well as the number of devices supplied. The drone is undergoing the final stage of testing before the start of mass production. The work is being carried out with the assistance of the First Academy of Unmanned Systems (Yaroslavl), experienced operators with combat experience provide consulting support to specialists of our design bureau," the organization said.

The Design Bureau noted that the device combines such advantages as the ability to obtain a high-quality stabilized image, as well as noise-resistant communication. "We took comfort from Mavik: it is a stable camera, as well as ease of operation, because the FPV drone is difficult to control, the operators know about it. Also from FPV, the MiS-35 works at non-standard frequencies, since the standard Mavika frequencies have long been jammed by the enemy. Electronic warfare installations are now adapting very quickly to new frequencies. Therefore, the only way for developers to deal with the means of electronic warfare of the enemy is to constantly change the operating frequency, which is what we are doing," the MIS bureau said.

According to the interlocutor of TASS, the carrying capacity of the MiS-35 is 4.5 kg. "At Baba Yaga, this figure can reach up to 15 kg. In parallel, we are developing a larger sample with a higher load capacity. In the future, the device will be produced with a higher payload capacity - up to 15 kg, like the Ukrainian drone," the organization stressed.

The Design Bureau also explained why the initial bet was on a smaller take-off weight and the size of the drone. "We managed to select a low-noise propeller group. The disadvantages of Baba Yaga are that it is a huge drone, it can be heard at a great distance. Our device is low-noise and has smaller dimensions, which makes the MiS-35 more difficult to see and hear. In addition, the enemy carries Baba Yaga by motor transport. Our transportation system is similar to Mavic/Matrice drones, the MiS-35 is also transported folded in an airtight case, so the fighters are able to independently deliver the UAV to the task site.

The Design Bureau clarified that the use of MiS-35 allows for targeted strikes with a more guaranteed result. Baba Yaga carries two or three mines, MiS-35 - one, but with a high chance of hitting the target. It is important to keep in mind that not all units need a high load capacity of the device: it all depends on the tactics of combat use. In certain situations, it is better to deliver pinpoint strikes with high accuracy. Also, one of the main advantages is the availability of the "Guide" system, thanks to which the MiS-35 can autonomously exit the EW range in the direction of the take-off point without using satellite navigation," the organization stressed.

The maximum flight speed of the MiS-35 is 63 km/h. The flight time is 45 minutes without payload, with a load of 3.5 kg - 32 minutes, with a load of 4.5 kg - 21 minutes. The combat radius of application with a payload is 9 km.
