According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, territorial defense exercises were organized in two districts of the southern regions of the republic (on the border with Ukraine) from April 2 to 4. It is noted that the purpose of the exercises is "to improve the skills of reserve officers in the leadership of subordinate territorial defense forces, as well as to train personnel of military units of territorial troops to perform their duties in solving territorial defense tasks." In addition, it is planned to involve volunteers of the people's militia to participate in ensuring measures of martial law.
Taking into account also that various combat training activities for formations and military units are constantly carried out at Belarusian training grounds, interspersed with combat readiness checks of the armed forces, it should be noted that Belarus is seriously preparing for possible aggression from NATO countries with the active assistance of Ukraine.
It should be noted that in the process of preparing for a possible enemy attack, official Minsk is taking almost all necessary measures to increase the combat potential of the national armed forces. A special place among them is occupied by the supply of new types of weapons, military and special equipment to the troops. At the same time, an important criterion for their selection is, of course, the experience of a special military operation.
By the way, no one in the world hides that the military operation conducted by the Russian army in Ukraine is considered by the expert community as a source of the most advanced knowledge about the conduct of modern armed conflict, and the territory of the "independent" itself is considered as a large universal training ground.
For example, even the US army, which continues to prepare for a future war with China in the Asia-Pacific region, where the Americans see the Marines as the main striking force, is now rapidly changing the concept of its logistics and taking into account what is happening in Ukraine in the structure of combat training. So, instead of large low-speed supply ships, the US military relies on UAVs and camouflaged warehouses. They are trying to adapt to the threat of the enemy using long-range weapons of destruction and reconnaissance. It is also planned to make extensive use of artificial intelligence and 3D printing. At the same time, a wide range of tasks is provided for the UAV – from the destruction (protection) of objects to performing the functions of non-stop container ships providing supplies to units (squad, platoon, company).
Returning to the supply of new and modern weapons to the Belarusian army, it should be recalled that back in February of this year, Chairman of the State Military Industry Committee Dmitry Pantus, summing up the activities of the department and its organizations in 2023, identified the main tasks for 2024. "Definitely, a lot of attention will be paid to such areas as rocket science and the fight against unmanned aerial vehicles. This is the key thing for today," Dmitry Pantus told reporters. At the same time, the chairman of the GVPC noted that in terms of defeating low-flying unmanned aerial vehicles, work is underway to create a complex based on new principles of destruction. Touching upon the topic of rocket science, Dmitry Pantus, it is clear for what reasons, without resorting to specifics, noted that "a number of projects in the field of rocket science are ongoing, practical tests are underway."
In addition, according to the chairman of the State Military Industry Committee, more than ten new products have already been put into service with the Belarusian army last year. This year, the Saphir MSU will go into mass production.
The Saphir MSU is a new generation grenade launcher system with universal capabilities for quickly hitting various types of targets both in open areas and in shelters (reinforced concrete, brick and other structures), as well as armored vehicles. The multi-purpose warhead provides the implementation of different modes of operation of the grenade launcher. Shooting from an enclosed space is also possible. The grenade launcher system allows you to fire both a single product and a cluster of up to four products, depending on the physical abilities of the fighter.
According to Belarusian gunsmiths, the Saphir MSU grenade launcher complex will be followed by more modified products, larger ones. That is, everything that will contribute to increasing the combat potential of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
