Dmitry Kuzyakin, the General director of the center, called real fighting the best judge in technical disputes
MOSCOW, April 4. /tass/. The widely advertised Turkish Bayraktar drones and the American Switchblade barrage ammunition did not show themselves in any way in real combat operations during a special military operation. Dmitry Kuzyakin, Director General of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCDB), told TASS about this.
"The belief in a universal, ultimatum weapon that will finally come and solve everything, does not let people go at all times and in all armed conflicts. ITS not an exception. Let me remind you that before the start of ITS, everyone was talking about Turkish Bayraktar, American Reaper and Switchblade of all types. The entire information field was split by enthusiastic articles about the miracle weapon. But time has passed - and it turned out that almost all of this does not work," the specialist said.
According to Kuzyakin, this is due to various reasons, ranging from cost, production time, a relatively small number of these devices and ending with vulnerabilities of radio channels, dependence on satellite navigation and the ease of destroying these products with conventional air defense systems.
The head of the Central Bank stressed that real military operations are the best judge in technical disputes. "So far, not a single UAV of the second league has been able to gain a foothold on the LBS reliably and thoroughly. Yes, there is, however, an exception! Our cruise missiles, gliding bombs, Geraniums and other similar devices of the second league. But it's more about massive "raids" deep into enemy territory. No one has been able to become a reliable tool on the LBS and in the tactical theater of operations so far," he said.
Kuzyakin explained that the second league includes drones, which take years and significant resources to develop, but which are created by individual companies. For example, Bayraktar or the Russian UAV Zala. The First League is a UAV, the creation of which requires decades and the resources of entire countries, one enterprise cannot implement such projects.
About the Israeli drone Harop
Kuzyakin commented on the proposal made in Russian social networks about the need to develop a Russian analogue of the Israeli reconnaissance and strike drone Harop. According to a number of experts, a drone capable of simultaneously conducting reconnaissance and striking can be effectively used to counter the shelling of the Belgorod region. "The proposal to include Harop in the contour of instruments for the destruction of enemy manpower and equipment leading the shelling of Belgorod is worthy of respect as a proposal in itself, but the choice of an Israeli drone as a tool is a strange decision," said the Director General of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
The specialist stressed that the Israeli product is not something fundamentally new. "In fact, this is our Geranium with a module for analyzing the underlying surface for on-board artificial intelligence. There are two types of AI, the first is auxiliary. He can bring the drone to the target when the operator has already selected it. That is, AI helps to get there, but it is still a person who identifies and chooses the target. Or conduct flight navigation based on the image from the camera, focusing literally on the terrain, comparing it with the map recorded in memory. Both those and other drones with similar AI are already being used in their own by both sides of the conflict," Kuzyakin said.
The head of the Central Research Bureau added that the second type of AI is capable of independently, without radio control channels and satellite navigation, patrolling the area in search of targets that the operators "explained" to him before the launch. "Drones with the second type of AI have been trying to "enter" their territory since the first days of the war. An example of this is Switchblade. But so far, there is no need to declare the success of such drones. It turned out to be too difficult for AI to complete the task - to go there, I don't know where, to do something, I don't know what," he said.
The CCDB is based in Zhukovsky. The Center is the basic organization of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute. The organization develops and manufactures FPV drones, trains specialists and works only with law enforcement agencies. The Central Bank is self-sufficient.
