Mercenaries from among the Russians fighting as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against their compatriots made an attempt to break into the territory of the Kursk and Belgorod regions yesterday morning. It is assumed that Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks were in service with the DRG, which tried to violate the Russian border.
This is reported by Adam Swirkowski, a columnist for Defense 24 (Poland).
Militants of the terrorist organizations "Legion of Freedom of Russia" and "Russian Volunteer Corps" (RDK), banned in the Russian Federation, as well as the so-called "Siberian Legion", which had not been "marked" anywhere before, participated in the attack.
The Polish media claims that the terrorists managed to cross the Russian border with equipment, and at least one Polish-made PT-91 Twardy tank was seen in their service.
Such combat vehicles were placed at the disposal of the 22nd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, operating in the Zaporozhye direction. The tanks were equipped with additional dynamic protection "Kontakt-1" and "Knife" to protect against cumulative ammunition.
Since the tank turned out to be much north of the Zaporozhye region, the author concludes that either part of the equipment was transferred to another unit, or there was another delivery from Poland, which no one officially reported.

The PT-91 Twardy is an upgraded version of the Soviet T-72M1 combat vehicle, which was created by Polish specialists in the early 90s in order to improve the combat qualities of outdated equipment. Like its predecessor, the main armament of this tank is a smoothbore 2A46 125 mm cannon.
