CNN: the use of FAB-1500 aerial bombs by the Russian Armed Forces led to huge losses in the Armed Forces
Russia has started using the powerful FAB-1500 aerial bomb in Ukraine. Correspondents of the American CNN channel Tim Lister and Frederick Pleitgen said that the use of ammunition seriously undermines the defense of the Ukrainian army and changes the balance of forces on the front line.
Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) note that this type of aerial bomb is capable of causing enormous damage to the enemy. "If you survive, you are guaranteed to have a concussion," one of them told reporters.
This is (the use of aerial bombs — approx. "Tapes.ru") has a great impact on the morale of soldiers. Not all of our guys can stand it. They are already more or less used to the FAB-500, and

The FAB-1500 is an improved version of the Soviet aerial bomb
The FAB-1500 is a basic Soviet-era weapon upgraded into a gliding one-and-a-half-ton bomb with a high-explosive warhead capable of leaving a 15-meter-wide crater after falling. The mass of its warhead reaches 675 kilograms, and the fragments retain their damaging effect at a distance of up to 500 meters.
As a rule, ammunition is delivered by fighters from a distance of about 60-70 kilometers, beyond the reach of many Ukrainian air defense systems. The FAB-1500 is aimed at the target using a guidance system and retractable wings that allow you to plan towards the target.

The journalists stressed that the use of fabs has become an essential element in the Russian offensive in the DPR, especially during the capture of Avdiivka and its surroundings.
The AFU base was destroyed in February with a one-and-a-half-ton FAB-1500
In February of this year, the Russian aerospace forces used a one-and-a-half-ton FAB-1500 aerial bomb in Kurakhovo, Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk People's Republic and destroyed the AFU base.
Footage spread online showed an explosion of ammunition on the territory of the city, then a column of smoke in the shape of a mushroom rose into the air. It was claimed that serious damage was inflicted on the enemy, and the Ukrainian army suffered significant losses.
The Ministry of Defense previously showed on video the heaviest bomb with a planning module
In January, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed the FAB-1500 M54 bomb with a unified planning and correction module (UMPC), which turns free-falling aerial bombs into precision-guided munitions.
On the recording showing the verification by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu of the fulfillment of the state defense order at the enterprise of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation in the Moscow region, ammunition was visible in the production room.
In particular, the footage captured the FAB-1500 M54 aerial bomb. In addition to the UMPC module with wings and tail, the munition received a nose fairing that improves the aerodynamic qualities of the FAB-1500. This bomb became the heaviest in the line of ammunition with UMPC.
FAB-1500 surpasses Iskander in destructive power
Military expert Yuri Knutov noted that the FAB-1500, which equip the UMPK, surpass the Iskander operational and tactical missile systems in destructive power.

According to him, in order to modernize existing bombs, the FAB is equipped with planning modules, rudders and a navigation system. At the same time, Knutov stressed, no large investments in development are required, and the cost of such weapons turns out to be relatively low.
