According to Naval News, at the international naval exhibition DIMDEX-2024 in Doha (Qatar) The Iranian Defense Ministry, among other things, demonstrated a model of an upgraded submarine of the Fateh type with an air-independent power plant (VNEU). The analysis of the model conducted by Naval News suggests the use of a Stirling engine. In a conversation with Naval News, an Iranian representative said that the VNEU for these submarines was developed by the Iranian Malik Ashtar University of Technology and its integration into the first of the Fateh-type submarines is expected within a year. After evaluating the results, the modernization process will extend to other boats of this type.
